Drawings in COSMO Process Manufacturing

Drawings are the construction plans linked to items that are attached to Production Structures (Development, Laboratory, and Manufacturing).

Drawing Status

If Status Check = Show Error or Confirm Individually in the PDM Setup page, then the following checkbox must be selected for the applicable Drawing Status:

  • Use in Dev. Structure - to use drawings in Development and Laboratory Structures.
  • Use in BOM - to use drawings in Manufacturing Structures.

To add a drawing to an item

Drawings can be added directly to the item or in the Drawings page.

If adding the drawing directly to an item:

  1. Choose the Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature icon, enter Items, and then choose the related link.
  2. Create an item or open an existing item.
  3. On the Related menu, choose Item > Drawings.
  4. Choose the New action.
  5. In the Type Code field, enter the type of drawing.
  6. In the Description field, enter a description of the drawing.
  7. In the Status Code field, enter the status of the drawing.
  8. In the Starting Date and Ending Date fields, enter valid period of the drawing.
  9. To add the drawing:
    1. In the Details FactBox, choose the Picture drop-down arrow and then choose the Import action.
    2. On the Select a picture to upload page, then do one of the following steps to upload the picture file:
      • Drag the file from File Explorer on your device to the dialog box.
      • Select the click here to browse link, find the file, and then select Open.
  10. To attach a document:
    1. In the Attachments FactBox, choose the Documents drop-down arrow and then choose the Upload files action.
    2. On the Select files page, do one of the following steps to attach the document:
      • Drag the file from File Explorer on your device to the dialog box.
      • Select the click here to browse link, find the file, and then select Open.
  11. To link to a URL:
    1. In the Attachments FactBox, choose the New Line (+) icon on the Links section.
    2. In the Add a link page, enter the URL and a description.

If using the Drawings page:

  1. Choose the Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature icon, enter Drawings, and then choose the related link.
  2. Choose the New action.
  3. In the No. field, enter the item number this drawing relates to or enter a unique code for adding the drawing to items using the Assign to Items action.
  4. In the Type Code field, enter the type of drawing.
  5. In the Description field, enter a description of the drawing.
  6. In the Status Code field, enter the status of the drawing.
  7. In the Starting Date and Ending Date fields, enter valid period of the drawing.
  8. To add the drawing:
    1. In the Details FactBox, choose the Picture drop-down arrow and then choose the Import action.
    2. On the Select a picture to upload page, then do one of the following steps to upload the picture file:
      • Drag the file from File Explorer on your device to the dialog box.
      • Select the click here to browse link, find the file, and then select Open.
  9. To attach a document:
    1. On the Details FactBox, choose the Documents drop-down arrow.
    2. Choose the Upload files action.
    3. On the Select files page, do one of the following steps to attach the document:
      • Drag the file from File Explorer on your device to the dialog box.
      • Select the click here to browse link, find the file, and then select Open.
  10. To link to a URL:
    1. In the Attachments FactBox, choose the New Line (+) icon on the Links section.
    2. In the Add a link page, enter the URL and a description.

To add a drawing to multiple items

After creating the drawings in the Drawings page, you can assign the drawings to multiple items using the Assign to Items action.

  1. On the Drawing Card, choose the Assign to Items action on the Home menu.
  2. In the Items page, choose the item(s) to assign the drawing to.
  3. Choose the OK button.

Drawing Sets

When there are multiple drawings for an item, you can add the drawings to a drawing set. When the item is added to a production structure, the attached drawings are transferred as well.

  1. On the Item Card, choose Item > Drawing Set on the Related menu.
  2. In the Drawing No. field, enter the drawing.

Drawings assigned to drawing sets are accessible from the production structure lines by choosing Line > Drawing Set on the Lines FastTab.

Drawing Set FactBoxes

Drawings assigned to drawing sets are visible in the Item Drawing Set and Line Drawing Set FactBoxes.

Item Drawing Set FactBox

The Item Drawing Set FactBox shows the drawing status of the item in the header of the Manufacturing Structure.

Line Drawing Set FactBox

The Line Drawing Set FactBox shows the status of the drawing in the line of the production structure. This FactBox is available on the following pages:

  • Development Structure
  • Laboratory Structure
  • Manufacturing Structure

Drawings in production structures are included when using the Search action in the Drawing Card. For more information, see Search for Drawings or Items.
