Insert Service Lines from Service BOM to Service Item Worksheet

When working with service quotes or service orders, you can quickly insert service lines from the active Service BOM assigned to a service item. This allows you to add spare parts, wear parts, or other components from the Service BOM structure directly into the service item worksheet as service lines. This feature is particularly useful when you need to add multiple spare or wear parts that are already defined in the Service BOM structure.

To insert service lines from a Service BOM

1. Open the service order or service quote and then open the Service Item Worksheet page.
2. Select the service line where you want to insert additional lines.
3. Choose Functions > Insert from Service BOM on the Lines FastTab.
4. The Service BOM Lines page opens, displaying active lines from the active Service BOM assigned to the selected service item.
   • Choose the Show Spare / Wear Parts action to filter the list to spare and wear part relevant lines (lines marked as spare or wear parts, and can include parent lines needed for BOM hierarchy context).
   • Choose the Show Spare / Wear Parts action again to clear the filter.
5. Select one or more BOM lines to insert as service lines.

   Note

   Only Item, Resource, and Account(G/L) line types can be inserted as service lines.

6. Choose the OK button.
7. Choose one of the following options to determine which lines to transfer:
   • Selected – Transfers only the lines you selected.
   • Spare/Wear Parts – From your selection, transfers lines marked as spare parts OR wear parts.
   • Wear Parts Only – From your selection, transfers only lines marked as wear parts.
   • Spare Parts Only – From your selection, transfers only lines marked as spare parts.
8. Choose the OK button.
9. Choose the action to apply for the service lines to create:
   • Replace Component – The service line is created with the Spare Part Action (DM) field set to Component Replaced. The internal Replaced Item No. and Component Line No. fields are populated on the service line.
   • Ignore – The service line is created without a spare part action.
10. Choose the OK button to create the service lines.

The service lines are inserted with line numbers calculated to fit between existing lines. Values from the Service BOM lines are transferred to the service lines, including:

• Type (Item, Resource, or G/L Account)
• No.
• Variant Code
• Unit of Measure Code
• Location Code
• Bin Code
• Quantity
• Line Attributes (DM)

If no active Service BOM exists for the service item, the transfer cannot be started. If there is insufficient line-number space in the target document, the process stops with an error and no partial insertion is completed for that step.
