Field Security

The Field Security module is used to define change permissions for any field in the system. This is extending the standard Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central permission system which only allows determining change permissions on an object level. The access rights can be based on users, roles, or Workflow Teams. These privileges can be granted or revoked using the Field Security Matrix page.

Note

Field Security can be licensed/used independently of the Process Management and Process Design modules. In order to use Process Management or Process Design, Field Security must also be licensed.

If you do not have the required permission to change the field value, a message will open to indicate that the change will not be saved but reset. The message contains a list with all restricted fields.

There are several options to reset the restricted fields by changing each field manually to its previous value or by refreshing the page and thereby the complete record.
