    Update Unit Costs and Prices

The Update Unit Cost & Price action updates line values in Document BOMs and Construction Orders using current master data (for example, Items, Work Centers, Machine Centers, and Resources). This is especially useful in long sales cycles.

If the Freeze Unit Cost (CC) checkbox is selected on a line, the Unit Cost (CC) is not recalculated by this action. The Unit Price can still be updated according to the standard update logic.

To keep a transferred or manually maintained cost stable, select the Freeze Unit Cost (CC) checkbox on the line.

    Note

If the Unit Cost (CC) is entered manually on a line, the Freeze Unit Cost (CC) field is set automatically.

For more information, see General Price Handling.

    Example

    Note

In version 12.4 and after, the Freeze Unit Cost (CC) field can be used to prevent the Unit Cost (CC) from being updated by the Update Unit Cost & Price action. In this video, the Freeze Unit Cost (CC) field was not available yet, so the unit costs are updated to the current values from master data. If the Freeze Unit Cost (CC) field had been available and selected for a line, the unit cost for that line would have remained at the manually entered value instead of being updated to the current master data cost.

In this video, the following changes are made to unit costs/prices fields in a Document BOM:

    • Work Center 100: Unit Cost (CC) = 1.50
    • Item D-1056: Unit Cost (CC) = 520.00
    • Item D-7014: Unit Cost (CC) = 50.25, Unit Price = 123.00

The Changed toggle at the bottom of the page is automatically turned on as changes are made. When the Document BOM is closed and reopened, the changes to the lines will remain but the Changed toggle will be turned off because no changes have been made since the page was opened.

The Update Unit Cost & Price action is run and a message opens asking if you want to update the unit costs and prices. After accepting the confirmation message, the changed unit costs/prices are updated (reset) to the current costs from the respective cards. Additionally, the Changed toggle is turned on again because changes have been made in the page.
