Global and Shortcut Manufacturing Dimensions
Manufacturing dimensions are used as global and shortcut dimensions just like the standard dimensions.
Manufacturing dimensions also include the Code Caption, Filter Caption, and Description fields, which are used to set the field captions for manufacturing dimensions shown in different pages.
Translations can be entered for each manufacturing dimension by choosing Translations on the Mfg. Dimension menu.
Manufacturing Dimensions Setup
Manufacturing dimensions can be added to items, work centers, tools, inserts, production order lines, and item variants. The global and shortcut dimensions for each type can be specified in the Manufacturing Dimensions Setup page, which is accessible using Tell Me.
The global manufacturing dimensions 1 and 2 can be set by using the Change Global Mfg. Dimensions function accessed by choosing Functions > Change Global Mfg. Dimensions on the Actions menu.
This report can be used to change the global manufacturing dimensions 1 and 2 for items, work centers, tools, inserts, production order lines, and item variants.
Manufacturing Dimensions Template
Manufacturing dimension templates can be used to standardize manufacturing dimensions for items, work centers, tools and inserts. These templates consist of a template header with a unique code and a description. Manufacturing dimensions can be allocated to the templates. The templates are accessible using Tell Me by entering Mfg. Dimension Templates.
If a manufacturing dimension template is added to an item, work center, tool or insert, the manufacturing dimensions entered in the template are transferred to the default manufacturing dimensions of the current record.
The value in the Mfg. Dimension Template Code field cannot be changed if default manufacturing dimensions already exist.
Manufacturing dimension templates can be added to item categories.
If the item category is used for an item, the Def. Mfg. Dim. Template Code specified on the Item Categories page is transferred to the Mfg. Dimension Template Code field on the item.
