Production Inbound/Outbound Location Code and Bin Code
On the Item Card, the Default Location/Bin Codes can be assigned in the following fields on the Planning FastTab:
- Prod. Inbound Location Code / Prod. Inbound Bin Code
- Prod. Outbound Location Code / Prod. Outbound Bin Code
The defaults are transferred to production order lines and components based on these conditions:
- The Use Location and Bin Defaults toggle is turned on in the General FastTab on the Process Manufacturing Setup page (see Process Manufacturing Setup).
- The Comp. Location Code field is empty on the Production BOM lines (see Default Location/Bin Codes).
- The default fields are populated on the Item Card.
The transfer conditions of the default Location/Bin Codes in production orders are described in the following table.
| Production Order | Default Transfer Conditions |
|---|---|
| Header / Lines | When the production order is created and the Prod. Inbound Location Code field on the Item Card of the item to be produced is not empty, then the values in the Prod. Inbound Location Code and Prod. Inbound Bin Code fields from that Item Card are transferred to the Location Code and Bin Code fields on the Production Order header / line. |
| Components | When the production order is created and the: - Comp. Location Code field on the Production BOM line is not empty, then the values in the Comp. Location Code and Comp. Bin Code fields from the Production BOM line are transferred to the Location Code and Bin Code fields on the Prod. Order Component line. - Comp. Location Code field on the Production BOM line is empty and the Prod. Outbound Location Code field on the Item Card of the item to be consumed is not empty, then the values in the Prod. Outbound Location Code and Prod. Outbound Bin Code fields from that Item Card are transferred to the Location Code and Bin Code fields on the Prod. Order Component line. NOTE: Settings on the Production BOM override settings on the Item. |
Note
The Comp. Location Code and Comp. Bin Code fields cannot be edited in the Production Structure lines for Items designated as Type = Non-Inventory.
Align Bin Codes After Work Center Change in Prod. Order Routing Line
If the work center in a Prod. Order Routing line is changed and the location code of the work center equals the location code of the production order line, a confirmation message will open that asks the user to align the bin codes.
If a Prod. Order Component's bin code matches the value in the Prod. Outbound Bin Code field of the component item, this bin code will remain unchanged regardless of the user's selection in the confirmation dialog.
For all other components, the bin codes should be updated according to the user's selection:
- If the user selects "Yes", the bin code of the production order line and the bin code of all Prod. Order Components are set to the To-Production Bin Code of the new Work Center.
- If the user selects "No", the bin code of the production order line is set to the To-Production Bin Code of the new Work Center, but the bin codes of all Prod. Order Components remain unchanged.
