Test Plan Setup in Test Plan Assignment and BOMs
The setup needed to create test orders for production order components/routings based on Master BOMs and Document/Construction BOMs are described in this section.
Assign Test Plan to Item
Before creating test orders from production orders, the test plans must be assigned to the items or item category codes, either for components or operations.
- Open the item that needs a test plan assignment.
Alternatively, you can open the Test Plan Assignment page from the Tell Me feature, change the Source Type Filter to Component or Operation, fill in the Item Category Code field, and then follow steps 4–8. - On the Quality Assurance menu, choose Test Plan Assignment.
- On a new line, choose what will be tested in the Source Type field:
- Component for items/components
- Operation for routings
- In the Item Test Order Option field, choose what the test order is based on, e.g., lot, serial number, etc.
- In the Sampling Method field, enter if the sampling method according to DIN ISO 2859 Part 1 should be applied.
- If a sampling method is defined, choose an Inspection Severity Code.
- Do not fill in the Test Plan No. field. The test plan is assigned in the BOM line.
- Fill in the other fields as needed (see Test Plan Assignment Page).
Assign Item to BOM
You can assign a Test Plan to Master BOM lines, Document BOMs, and Construction Order lines. As usual, the information from the Master BOM line transfers to the Document BOM/Construction Order line, or from the Document BOM to the Construction Order line.
The following COSMO Quality Assurance fields are available in the Master BOM line, Document BOM, and Construction Order line:
- Test Plan No. – links the BOM line to the test plan that will be used in the test order.
- Test Order Relevance – used with test order scheduling of manufacturing inspections to determine when test activities for an operation occur (at the beginning, in parallel, or at the end).
- From The Same Lot – limits the selection of lots in the Item Tracking Lines page to the same lot only.
Test Plans can also be assigned directly to Document BOM and/or Construction Order lines.
Change Test Plans in BOM Lines
In the Master BOM, Document BOM, or Construction Order lines, you can choose a different test plan or create a new test plan based on the existing test plan.
Important
It is possible to open the assigned Test Plan from the BOM line (via the Test Plan No. field or the Customize Test Plan action) and make changes to the existing Test Plan. However, these changes are not specific to the BOM. If you need to make changes that are specific to the BOM line, then create a new test plan based on the existing test plan.
Any problems with the Test Plans should be handled in COSMO Quality Assurance to ensure that other documents are properly updated when changes are made to the Test Plans.
Choose a Different Test Plan
To change to a different test plan, go to the Test Plan No. field in the BOM line and select a different test plan.
Create a New Test Plan Based on Existing Test Plan
- Open the Master BOM, Document BOM, or Construction Order.
- In the line with the Test Plan to replace with a new test plan, choose the dropdown arrow in the Test Plan No. field, and then choose New.
- Press Enter to populate the No. field and then on the Home menu, choose the Copy Test Plan action.
- Select the test plan to copy and then choose the OK button.
- Make the necessary changes and change the Status to Certified.
- Choose the OK button.
The new test plan is assigned to the BOM line.
