Cost Groups

Cost Groups can be assigned to the BoQ structure and are used to implement, e.g., the DIN 276 cost group elements or cost structures of other countries and norms.

Setup

In the Cost Groups page, create the structure in the Code, Description, and Cost Group Types fields. The Cost Group Type options are:

• <Blank>
• Heading - Emphasizes the record in the structure.
• Begin-Total - Indicates the beginning of a hierarchy within the structure.
• End-Total - Indicates the ending of the hierarchy within the structure.

The lines between the Begin-Total and End-Total cost group types can be indented by choosing Functions > Indent Cost Groups on the Actions menu.

Assignment to BoQ

The Cost Group field is available in the Project Budget Calculation, BoQ Position List, and BoQ Position Card pages.

BoQ positions with BoQ Position Type = Group, Normal, Optional, and Alternative can be assigned with a cost group. When a cost group is assigned to/changed in a BoQ Group, then that cost group is inherited to the sub-structures within the group, unless a different cost group has already been assigned to those sub-structures.

Note

Cost group lines set with Cost Group Type = End-Total cannot be assigned to a BoQ structure and are therefore not listed for selection in the Cost Group field.
