    Test Result Consolidation Behavior

The Test Rslt. Cons. Behav. page controls when consolidated test results are calculated for items tested on the item level. By default, consolidated test results are calculated automatically when a test order is finished. For items with many test results over their lifecycle, you can postpone automatic calculation to improve performance.

    Consolidation Behavior Overview

When a test order on the item level is finished, consolidated test results are processed based on the consolidation behavior setup:

    • No setup entry exists: Consolidated results are calculated automatically when the test order is finished (Calculate mode).
    • Setup entry with Calculate mode: Consolidated results are calculated automatically when the test order is finished (explicit default behavior).
    • Setup entry with Postpone mode: Automatic calculation is skipped. Use the Update Consolidated Test Results action on the test order to manually trigger the calculation.

Item-level entries take priority over Item Category entries. If an entry exists for both a specific item and its item category, the item-level entry determines the behavior.

To set up consolidation behavior for items or item categories

    1. Choose the Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature icon, enter Test Rslt. Cons. Behav., and then choose the related link.
    2. Choose the New action.
    3. In the Type field, select Item for a specific item or Item Category to apply the behavior to all items in a category.
    4. In the No. field, enter or select the item number or item category code. The Description field automatically populates with the item or item category description.
    5. In the Consolidated Result Update Mode field, select the consolidation behavior:
      • Calculate: Consolidated results are calculated automatically when a test order is finished (default).
      • Postpone: Automatic calculation is skipped. Use the Update Consolidated Test Results action on the finished test order to manually trigger the calculation.
    6. Go to the next line to add another entry.

    Performance Considerations

Testing on item level can generate a greater number of test results during the lifecycle of an item, which can result in longer calculation times when finishing test orders. The Postpone mode allows you to defer the consolidation calculation until a more convenient time, such as:

    • During off-peak hours
    • After completing a batch of test orders
    • When consolidated results are specifically needed for customer certificates or quality reviews

Manual recalculation is triggered using the Update Consolidated Test Results action on the Test Order Card, Test Order List, or Test Orders - Finished pages. This action is only available for finished test orders where the Test Destination Type is Item.
