    Inserts

Inserts are also Work Centers and are used in additional to the tools, meaning that one or more inserts that are running with a tool on a machine can be defined. Inserts are also accessed directly using Tell Me. The Insert Work Center Card is accessed using Tell Me. Choose the Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature icon, enter Insert Work Centers, and then choose the related link.

Because an insert is a work center, the standard capacities can be used, which provides insight into bottlenecks within the tools.

In the production structures, the inserts are entered below the tools and are indented.

When a new insert is created, a check verifies whether a tool already exists. If more than one insert is created, only one is designated as the main insert (same function as in the tool management). The main insert has more features in the sequence planning.

When a production order is created, the inserts are scheduled at the same time as the tool and the machine.

During the machine and tool runs, the capacities of the inserts are blocked as well.

    Inserts in Sequence Planning

The Sequence Planning offers the same functions for the inserts as offered for tools. Only the main inserts are displayed in the Sequence Planning page (see Sequence Planning).

Inserts can be changed on the Sequence Planning lines by selecting the line to change on the Lines FastTab and then choosing Functions > Change Insert. Select the new insert from the list that opens, choose the OK button and then choose the Yes button to assign the new insert.

The Sequence Planning and the production order routing lines are updated with the new insert.

    Inserts and Production Rates

Work Center Production Rates can also be defined for inserts. From the Insert Work Centers page or the Insert Work Center Card, choose the Work Center Production Rates action to view or create work center production rates (see Work Center Production Rates).
