    General Planning Features

As a graphical interface showing project and resource planning information, the Graphical Project Planning, Graphical Resource Planning, and Graphical Resource Planning by Team pages have the same general look and usage, with some variations due to the type of information displayed. Both allow you to quickly change to different dates and time periods, search for specific project lines or resources, change the appearance of the page, and of course, view the project information using a Gantt chart.

This section provides an overview of how to navigate this page, change settings, and so on.

    Actions Menu

On the Actions menu, choose the Go to Date action to open the Date Selection page, which allows you to move to a specific date in the chart.

    Zoom to ...

Just below the Actions menu is the Zoom to ... drop-down, which allows you to change the view to different time periods. The options are Year, Quarter, Month, Week, and Day.

Progress Line / Progress Line Date

Next you can choose to show a Gantt progress line for the planning lines.

The progress lines are shown across the planning lines, based on its cumulative percentage of completion, up to the date specified in the Progress Line Date field.

Change the Progress Line Date field to the date in which you want to see the remaining progress time frame and then select the Progress Line checkbox. The progress line:

    • begins at either the end of the completion % or the beginning of the planning line is completion is 0.
    • ends at the end of the date entered in the Progress Line Date field.
    • is excluded from completed planning lines.
    • is shown as a vertical line at the specified date, with no progress, if the planning lines start after the specified date.

    Unplanned Processes

Next you can choose whether unplanned processes are shown in the Graphical Resource Planning and Graphical Resource Planning by Team pages. Select the checkbox to show the unplanned processes as well as the planned processes.

    Resource Group / Resource Team

Next you can filter the lines by the existing resource groups or teams. Clear the filter by choosing the <Blank> option in the field.

This field is only available on the Graphical Resource Planning and Graphical Resource Planning by Team pages, if resource groups and/or teams are used.

    Search through Tasks

Next you can search through the planned project lines. This is a free text field so you can enter full or partial names of projects, project lines, or resources and then press Enter or choose the Search button to find all lines with the search criteria. The filtered entries can be cleared by choosing the Clear button.

    Charts

Navigating and using the charts are described in detail in Graphical Project Planning and Graphical Resource Planning.

    Chart Changes

The bottom of the page contains controls that allow you to change the appearance of the chart.

    Expand/Collapse all rows

The first two icons allow you to either Expand all rows or Collapse all rows in the left pane of the chart.

    Zoom in/Zoom out

The third and fourth icons allow you to zoom into or out of the time periods in the right pane of the chart.

    Zoom to fit into page

The fifth icon allows you reset to a view that will fit into the page.

Displays menu to choose visible columns

The sixth icon allows you to add columns to the chart area. This is especially useful because you can add Start/End Date/Times and Progress (completion percentage) for the planning lines in both pages, as well as Person Responsible, Predecessor ID, Process ID, and Process Outline No. in the Graphical Project Planning page. The No., Description, Person Responsible, Process ID, and Process Outline No. columns have ascending/descending arrows for project sorting in the Graphical Project Planning page.

You can also add the Work Quantity, Work Format, Duration Quantity, Duration Format, Process Type Fixed, and Planned Capacity columns in both pages, but note that these can only be used with unplanned tasks in the Graphical Resource Planning page.

    Style

The Style drop-down allows you to change the color of the chart area, including text, as well as the control icons at the bottom of the page.

    Note

The custom option works with the TreeGrid CSS defined with EJS TreeGrid 17.1.

    Gantt

The Gantt drop-down allows you to change the color of the Gantt area of the chart.
