Walkthrough: Create and Ship a Rental Contract – Kayak for Wendy Wilson

In this topic, we take you through the steps to use the COSMO Rental demo data to create and ship rental contract.

Scenario

COSMO Rental has been implemented at The Rent Entirely Everything Company. You have to create a new rental contract for Customer No. REN-C-4000 (Wendy Wilson) that includes a rental item REN-I-000001 (Kayak). You then have to ship the rental contract to start the delivery process.

Steps

Follow these steps to create a rental contract.

Create a new rental contract

  1. Choose the Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature icon, enter Rental Contracts, and then choose the related link.

  2. Choose the New action, and then fill in the fields as described in the following table.

    Field Value
    Customer No. REN-C-4000
    Rental Start Date 01.11.2025
    Rental End Date 31.12.2025

Add a contract line for the kayak

  1. In the Lines FastTab, add a new contract line by filling in the fields as described in the following table.

    Field Value
    Rental Item No. REN-I-000001
    Description Kayak
    Quantity 1

Ship the rental contract

  1. Review the rental contract header and line details to confirm accuracy.
  2. On the Home menu, choose the Post action.
  3. Choose the Post Shipment option to post the shipment using the item journal.

Result

The item has been rented and Rental Status field of the first line has been changed to Rented.
