- In the Weighting Factor field, define the importance of the rating (see Weighting Factor).
- In the Notice field, enter any information about the rating that you want to include in the Vendor Rating report.
Weighting Factor
The weighting factor for soft criteria serves as a statistical instrument designed to adjust the importance of specific criterion in comparison to others. Put simply, it offers a method to either highlight or downplay certain criterion within a collective set.
Weighting factors become invaluable when working with soft criteria because you can choose the criteria that will exert more influence on the final outcome. These factors empower you to assign varied levels of importance to distinct elements, ensuring the data aligns seamlessly with your distinct goals. For example, if the rating of a supplier audit holds twice the importance as the rating of a purchase manager, it would have a weighting factor that reflects this 2:1 significance.
Examples of the weighting factor for a criterion with a rating of 90:
Weighting Factor | Result |
---|---|
2 | The importance of the criterion is twice as high as others and will contribute 180 points to the cumulative rating of the soft criteria. |
1 | The importance of the criterion is unweighted and will contribute 90 points to the cumulative rating of the soft criteria. |
.5 | The importance of the criterion is only half of the base criterion and will contribute 45 points to the cumulative rating of the soft criteria. |
0 | The soft criterion does not affect the cumulative rating at all. In this context, the criterion is essentially disregarded or treated as if it does not exist in the weighted evaluation. |
