Create Engineering Change Orders from BOM Change Log
The BOM Change Log lists changes made to production BOMs or master BOMs based on the setting in the Production BOM Log and/or Master BOM Log fields in the Configure to Order Setup page, which includes changes to status, version, and BOM number.
Access the BOM Change Log from Tell Me or the BOM Changes cues in the Role Center.
Create Engineering Change Order
Engineering Change Orders can be created from entries in the BOM Change Log by selecting the entry and then choosing the Create Eng. Change Order action. The Engineering Change Order is created for the item number to which the BOM is assigned. When the item number is set, drawings from the referenced Production BOM or Master BOM are automatically merged to the Engineering Change Order. If a BOM version is specified in the BOM Change Log entry, the drawings are taken from that version; otherwise they are taken from the BOM header.
The Drawing No. and Drawing Type Code fields on the Engineering Change Order are updated based on the merged drawings:
- The Drawing No. field shows the drawing number if all merged drawings share the same number; otherwise it is blank.
- The Drawing Type Code field shows the type code if there is exactly one merged drawing or if all merged drawings share the same type; otherwise it is blank.
- Both fields remain blank if the BOM has no drawing set assigned.
BOM Change Log in Role Center
In the Configure to Order Design Engineer Role Center, the BOM Changes - Open cue shows the number of open change log entries and can be used to quickly open the BOM Change Log page. Once an Engineering Change Order is created for a change log entry, it is moved to the BOM Changes - ECO Created cue.
Close Change Log Entries
To change the status of the log entries, select the entry or entries in the BOM Change Log page and then choose the Finish action. Alternatively, you can manually change the Status field on individual lines. The Status will change to Finished and entry/entries will be removed from the cues in the Role Center.
