Automatic Provision of Attribute Values in Checklists

Checklists in COSMO Discrete Manufacturing often rely on formulas that incorporate item-specific attributes such as power, dimensions, or documentation requirements. Attribute values from the originating document are automatically made available as formula variables – without requiring any manual mapping or configuration.

When a checklist is opened or recalculated, the system automatically:

    • Identifies the document context from which the checklist originates (e.g., Sales Line, Construction Header).
    • Reads all relevant attributes from that source document.
    • Makes the values available as formula variables inside the checklist, ready for immediate use.

For example, if a Sales Line contains an attribute "A_POWER" with Value = 7, this value becomes directly usable in formulas – without the need to manually define or assign it in the checklist. Therefore, if a formula in a checklist line is "A_POWER * 50", then the line will be automatically calculated with an Input value of "350" when the Recalculate function is run.

The automatic attribute provision applies to checklists linked to the following sources:

    • Sales Line
    • Service Line
    • Construction Header (Construction Lines are not currently supported)
    • Purchase Line
    • Project Line Budget (attributes are taken from the assigned Item or Item Variant)

    Example

In the following video, attribute values from a sales line are passed to checklist lines for use as formula variables.

A checklist template is set up to get the power and color attributes from the sales line and then perform calculations based on the results:

    • If the "I_CM_POWER" attribute from the sales line has a value greater than "0", then it will calculate the power by multiplying the value by 1.75.
    • If the "I_COLOR" attribute in the sales line has a value, then it will take the calculated power value from the checklist line to determine the color:
      • If greater than or equal to "80", the color will be set to "RED".
      • If less than "80", it will use the color attribute from the sales line.

The calculated checklist lines are set to be shown only if these attributes meet the requirements.

A sales order is created for item 70071, which the checklist has been assigned to. The Attributes (DM) page is opened to show that the "I_COLOR" is "BLUE" and the "I_CM_POWER" value is "55.00".

When the document checklist is opened, only the question line is shown. When the Recalculate function is run, the lines are updated with the calculation lines:

    • For the calculated power line, the Input field displays 96.25, which is the calculated value of 55 x 1.75.
    • For the calculated color line, the Input field displays RED, because the calculated power value is greater than "80".

No manual input was needed; all calculations were handled based on the attribute values and the formulas in the checklist lines.

For comparison, a second sales order line is created and the power attribute is changed to 45.00. When the checklist is opened and recalculated, the power value is calculated as 78.75 and the color is set to BLUE, which is the default for power values lower than 80.
