Formula Quantity

The Formula Quantity function calculates the quantity of a component and the result of the formula replaces the values of the Quantity field. The formula can be entered manually or by using the Formula Editor, accessed by choosing the ellipsis in the Formula Quantity field.

This formula has a higher priority then values entered in the Quantity field.

Example

In the following video, a master BOM is set up with power formulas for calculating the quantity of screws needed. The Quantity field for each screw is empty and will be populated in the Document BOM based on the value entered for the POWER variable in the related checklist.

In the checklist template, the POWER variable is defined for calculation.

A POWER value is entered in the document checklist, which calculates the quantity of each screw that is needed. When the master BOM is opened, the calculated value from the document checklist is transferred to the Exp. Quantity field on the relevant Document BOM line.
