    Price Calculation with Checklist

When calculating the price using the checklist, there are two main options:

    • Checklist as Standalone Price Source
The checklist itself can serve as a direct source for pricing, without requiring a Document BOM or Calculation Scheme. This opens up flexibility for early-stage quoting and guided selling. This enhanced logic supports:

      • Add. Charge/Price Reduction directly on checklist lines
      • Qty. per: quantity-based pricing logic (e.g., "5 units of Y for each unit of X")
      • Item and Variant specific pricing
      • Support for Local Currency (LCY) and Foreign Currency (FCY)
      • Seamless integration into sales configuration without full engineering data
      • Alternative to classic "Item Price Catalog" or manually maintained checklists

Additionally, this feature complements the Business Central Price Lists, introduced as part of Microsoft's pricing model:

      • Prices can be managed via customer-specific or item-based price lists.
      • The checklist logic can extend these models by enabling option-level pricing control.

This is a lightweight, configuration-driven sales price logic, usable even without full BOMs or routings.

    • Checklist-Driven Calculation via Document BOM
In this approach, the checklist drives the structure of the Document BOM. Based on the selected options, relevant components, routings, and operations are inserted. The resulting BOM serves as the basis for the document calculation, which uses the calculation scheme to determine the final sales price.

This method is ideal when pricing needs to reflect actual material usage, processing times, and manufacturing steps. It supports configure-to-order and engineer-to-order scenarios where each configuration has a direct impact on cost and production structure.
