Compare and Update Construction Orders

A Construction Order line can be compared to its referenced master via the Construction BOM Compare & Update feature. The comparison is initiated from either the Construction Order header or individual Construction Order lines and presents the differences in a structured dialog.

Together with the BOM Compare & Update feature, this process:

  • Compares All Lines
    The Compare BOM process checks all Construction Order lines in the source and target orders and detects:

    • Insertions (lines in source, missing in target)
    • Deletions (lines in target, missing in source)
    • Modifications (same line exists, but field values differ)

  • Displays Differences
    The BOM Compare & Update page shows each delta:

    • Field differences (only those marked Include in Insert and Include in Modify = true in BOM Compare Fields page)
    • Color-coded: added, removed, changed
    • Manual changes in the target are flagged (conflict detection)

  • User Selects Which Changes to Apply
    The user can apply all, none, or selected changes:

    • Direction is always from source to target
    • Changes are written directly into the target Construction Order
    • Optionally triggers revalidation logic

To define the source and target Construction Orders and open the BOM Compare & Update page

To start these processes, the source and target Construction Orders need to be defined.

  1. In the Construction Order page:

    • Choose Functions > Compare BOM action on the Actions menu to open the Compare BOM page for the entire Construction Order.
    • Select a line and then choose Functions > Compare BOM on the Lines FastTab to open the Compare BOM page for the selected Construction Order line.

  2. In the Compare BOM page, define the source and target construction orders in the Source No. or Target No. fields, respectively.

    Note

    The selected Construction Order/Construction Order line is set as the target but can be swapped via the Swap Source/Target toggle.

  3. If created from the Construction Order line, define the Construction Order line number to be used as the reference in the Source Ref. No. or Target Ref. No. fields.

    Note

    Depending on how the Compare BOM page was opened, you can choose to clear or populate the Source Ref. No. and Target Ref. No. fields.

  4. Choose the OK button.
    The BOM Compare & Update page opens with all detected differences that the user can choose to apply or skip. For more information about the fields and actions on this page, see BOM Compare & Update.

  5. Review the changes, set any to skip as needed, and then choose the Apply Changes action. You can also choose to close the page without making any changes.
