A4) Perform Analysis (Construction and Production Order)

The purpose of this section is to convert the provisional (Spare Part Action (DM) = Analysis) lines into an executable diagnostic scope, capture disassembly / inspection effort, and separate pure analysis cost from later repair actions.

    Steps

    1. Open the Service Item Worksheet (on the Service Order just converted from the quotation).
    2. Confirm that the main repair Service Item line (the item being repaired) is present.
      • If it was not added during quotation, add it now so the physical return (RMA / Sales Return Order) can be linked.
      • Set the main Service Line Spare Part Action (DM) = Component Repaired (the provisional component lines remain = Analysis).

    1. Ensure the physical item has been received (in inventory).

      • If not yet returned, open the Service Item Worksheet, select the repair item line, and then choose the Return Order action on the Line menu to create the Sales Return Order, and then post it.

      • This posts the item to stock (value 0) and creates the Reservation Entry required for traceability.

      • Without this step the analysis/diagnostic Production Order cannot properly collect costs against the returned item.

    2. Go back to the Service Item Worksheet and then select the provisional lines with Spare Part Action (DM) = Analysis.

    3. On the Lines FastTab, choose Line > Construction Order.

    System Behavior

    • A Construction Order is created specifically for the analysis phase.
    • All Service Item Worksheet lines with Spare Part Action (DM) = Analysis are copied as Construction Lines (no Service BOM update yet).
    • The system inserts the Analysis Item (from Configure to Order Setup: Repair Analysis Item No.) back into the Service Item Worksheet as a new Service Line (Spare Part Action (DM) = Analysis Production Order) to serve as the cost collector for the diagnostic production run.
    • This Service Line will later be shipped/invoiced (if analysis is billable) or its cost rolled into the final repair item (depending on pricing policy). en-us/media/DM-service-quotation-service-item-worksheet-analysis.png

    Production

    1. From the Construction Order, create a Production Order to execute disassembly, cleaning, measurement, fault isolation.
    2. Post material/time used strictly for analysis (consumables, labor). Costs accumulate on the Analysis Item.
    3. No Service BOM changes occur during analysis posting.
