Processing with Milestones
Milestones can be established within projects to aid in evaluating the status and timeliness of a project. Milestones do not have durations or costs associated with them.
Milestones can be used with or without a trigger for each sales channel.
Milestones might be included in the calculation structure for the following reasons:
- A milestone triggers the calculation for a fixed price.
- Reaching multiple milestones will release the cost for the invoice run.
Milestones with Triggers
In the Project Budget Calculation page, the milestones (levels) are set up on the main position in the Project Sales Milestone Triggers page (Related menu > Line > Milestone Triggers). For example, to add the milestones for a position, select the position and then open the Project Sales Milestone Triggers page.
In the Project Budget Sales page, the Sales Milestone field is used to make you aware of a referenced milestone with a trigger. The milestones can also be edited and defined in the Project Sales Milestone Triggers page by choosing the value in the Sales Milestone field.
Milestones without Triggers
Milestones without triggers are still entered as levels within a main position in the Project Budget Calculation page but no trigger designation is necessary. A Project Budget Line can be marked as a milestone in the Project Position Card.
Milestone Completion
The confirmation of milestones automatically starts the planning for an invoice run for the relevant sales line. Milestone completion can be confirmed by selecting the Milestone Completed checkbox on the Project Planning and Processing page. Setting a milestone as completed automatically sets the % Complete field to 100 in the related Planning Processes lines.
Milestone confirmation can also be managed in the Project Milestones page, accessed from the Project Card by choosing Project > Milestones on the Related menu. The Process Finish Date field indicates the date that the milestone was completed.
