Formula Valid
The Formula Valid function calculates the validity of a component. The result of the formula valid has to be TRUE or FALSE. If the result is TRUE, the according line will be copied to the document BOM.
The formula can be entered manually or by using the Formula Editor, accessed by choosing the ellipsis in the Formula Valid field.
This function has a higher priority then other formulas.
Example
In the following video, two master BOMs are set up with formulas for choosing the proper conveyor components based on a specified power.
In the first master BOM, the "POWER" variable is assigned in the Formula Valid field on separate lines for determining which item (motor) to choose if the power entered in the checklist is greater than or equal to 50 but less than 75 and greater than or equal to 75 but less than 100.
In the second master BOM, the "POWER" variable is assigned on separate lines for determining which item (hydraulic system) to choose if the power entered in the checklist is greater than or less than 75.
The master BOMs are assigned to either the main master BOM for the Conveyor Machine or to items that are assigned to the main master BOM for the Conveyor Machine.
The main master BOM has a corresponding checklist template that also uses the "POWER" variable. When a value of 90 is entered in the Input field in the document checklist, the items with the formulas that meet the value criterion are used in the document BOM.
