Prototype Item Setup
On the Config. to Order FastTab of the Item Card, items are defined as prototype templates using the following fields:
- Prototype - Indicates if this is a prototype item. Turning on this toggle makes the Prototype Type and Prototype No. Series fields editable.
- Prototype Type - Identifies the type of prototype that will be used when a new prototype item is created. The options are:
- Item - Select this option if the item will be copied into a new prototype item.
- Variant - Select this option if a new item variant should be created only.
- Prototype No. Series - Identifies the number series used for items and/or variants created from this prototype item.
Note
The Reserve field should not be set to Always in the Planning FastTab for this item.
Values entered in the Description – Description 5 fields on the Item Card will be transferred to the new item if one is created. Therefore, placeholders can be used.
On the Related menu, choose Item > Attributes (DM) to allocate attributes to the item. During the calculation of the Document BOMs/Construction Orders, a check is made to determine whether an identical item and/or variant is already present or has to be created. In the Attribute Values page, the Relevant to Prototype checkbox must be selected on the attributes that are to be used for retrieving the prototype information. In the Formula Value field, enter a variable from the corresponding Checklist Template for later comparison of the values.
