Resource Skills Setup
Resources used in resource scheduling do not have the same set up requirements as for other processing. For these resources, it is not necessary to have invoicing, posting groups or personal data information. This is because a work center is created for the resource, and thereby, all scheduling data is managed in the work center.
Skills, however, must be defined for each resource that needs manufacturing scheduling capabilities.
In the Resource Card, choose the Manufacturing Skills action on the Navigate menu to open the Resource Manufacturing Skills page.
In the Manufacturing Skill Code field, select the skill that this resource needs to have for scheduling. As described in the table in Manufacturing Skills, the proficiency of each skill is entered in either the Code Value field or Numeric Value field, depending on whether the skill has a Data Type of Code or Integer/Decimal, respectively.
Additionally, enter the valid period for the skill in the Starting Date and Ending Date fields. The automatic resource allocation will consider only resources whose manufacturing skill has no validity period or is valid during the whole operation period. For example, during shift transition from one day to the next, resources will not be selected if the skill is outdated after midnight for a shift that started the previous day.
