Recipe Comparison Matrix

The Recipe Comparison Matrix allows you to create production structure versions or create new production structures from existing production structures. With this function, you can see the components and make changes to the lines using the history of other production structures, which is useful when needing to make adjustments to an existing recipe, so you can compare the current one with similar recipes.

When you have variations of a recipe, you can create a new production structure version from the Recipe Comparison Matrix and then quickly make changes to the new production structure lines. Similarly, you can use an existing production structure as a base for a new item, create a new production structure from the Recipe Comparison Matrix and then make the changes to the lines in the new production structure.

Access the Recipe Comparison Matrix page from the Development Structure, Laboratory Structure, or Manufacturing Structure by choosing the Recipe Comparison Matrix action.

Recipe Comparison Matrix Page

The Recipe Comparison Matrix page has similar fields and actions as the Production Structure lines. New fields, actions, and the Matrix FastTab are described in this section.

Filter FastTab

The Filter FastTab has the Recipe Comparison Group Code field, which allows you to control the information that is included in the comparison. This code can be assigned to items, production structures, production BOMs, and production BOM versions. For example, you can assign the same Recipe Comparison Group Code to all items that are similar. Then when you assign this group in the Recipe Comparison Matrix, these items are included, thus making it easier to compare recipes of similar items.

Production Structure Lines FastTab

The Production Structure Lines FastTab includes all the components of the originating production structure.

The Where-Used Focus field indicates which components need to be compared in the Matrix FastTab and the sequence in which they need to be shown. For example, entering 1 for item P-7402, 2 for item P-7403 and 3 for item P-7401 means that columns are shown in the Matrix FastTab in the following order: | P-7402 | P-7403 | P-7401 |.

Note

The Where-Used Focus field can be set in the Production Structure or in the Recipe Comparison Matrix, but setting it directly in the Production Structure provides direct default information in the matrix.

The actions on the Production Structure Lines FastTab are the same as in the Production Structure page but also includes the Where-Used action on the Related menu, which opens the Prod. BOM Where-Used page that shows you where the selected item is used in other BOMs.

The Production Structure Details FactBox shows general information about the originating Production Structure.

Matrix FastTab

The Matrix FastTab shows the current Production BOM including versions as well as any production BOMs/production BOM versions that have been assigned the same Recipe Comparison Group Code. The active production BOM for this production structure is bolded to help visualize the current recipe settings. As previously described, the components set with Where-Used Focus are shown in the matrix to help you compare the recipe shares between different production BOMs.

No changes can be made in the Matrix FastTab, but you can gain further insight into the production BOMs. On the Related menu, you can access where-used information by choosing the Where-Used action, which shows you where a component of the current recipe is used in other recipes. Additionally, you can choose the Matrix per Version action to open the Prod. BOM Matrix per Version page and then choose the Show Matrix action, which enables you to compare all versions of a recipe. This page provides an overview of all components on one or more layers and shows the percentile shares of recipe components.

The Production BOM Details FactBox shows information about the selected production BOM in the Matrix FastTab.

Create New Version

When you have variations of a recipe, create a new production structure version using the Create New Version action on the Recipe Comparison Matrix page.

  1. Open the production structure that needs a new version.
  2. Choose the Recipe Comparison Matrix action.
  3. Choose the Create New Version action.
  4. Choose the Yes button to create the new version and then choose the OK button to close the confirmation message.
    This action creates a new Production BOM/Recipe Version as it does when certifying the production structure if the New Production BOM toggle is turned on. However, the status of the Production Structure is set to Under Development instead of Certified so you can continue to make changes until the recipe is complete.
  5. If not already populated from the originating production structure:
    • in the Filter FastTab, fill in the Recipe Comparison Group Code field.
    • in the Production Structure Lines FastTab, fill in the Where-Used Focus fields on components to compare in the Matrix FastTab.
  6. Expand the Matrix FastTab to see the comparisons to other recipes.
  7. Make changes in the Production Structure Lines FastTab.
  8. Close the Recipe Comparison Matrix and then certify the production structure version.
Note

The Create New Version action is not available on the Recipe Comparison Matrix when opened from the Development Structure.

Copy Production Structure

You can use the Recipe Comparison Matrix to create a production structure for a new item based on an existing production structure.

  1. Open the production structure to be used as the basis for another production structure.
  2. Choose the Recipe Comparison Matrix action.
  3. Choose the Copy Production Structure action.
  4. Choose the Yes button to copy the production structure.
    A confirmation message opens in the notification bar with a link to open the new production structure.
  5. Choose the Show created production structure link in the notification bar.
  6. On the new production structure, update the information in the General FastTab for the new item.
  7. At this point, you could fill in the Recipe Comparison Group Code field and the Where-Used Focus fields in the lines for components to compare in the Matrix FastTab. This can also be done in the Recipe Comparison Matrix instead.
  8. Choose the Recipe Comparison Matrix action.
  9. If not already populated from changes in the production structure in step 7:
    • in the Filter FastTab, fill in the Recipe Comparison Group Code field.
    • in the Production Structure Lines FastTab, fill in the Where-Used Focus fields on components.
  10. Expand the Matrix FastTab to see the comparisons to other recipes.
  11. Make changes in the Production Structure Lines FastTab.
  12. Close the Recipe Comparison Matrix and then certify the new production structure.

Ingredient Comparison Matrix

The Ingredient Comparison Matrix compares the ingredients of the current production structure and the selected production BOM/production BOM version in the Recipe Comparison Matrix.

To open the Ingredient Comparison Matrix page for a specific line, choose Line > Ingredient Comparison Matrix on the Lines FastTab.

The Production Structure Details and Production BOM Details FastTabs have the same information as on the Recipe Comparison Matrix.
