Copy and Move Positions and Levels

This section explains how to copy and move Positions and Levels within the Job Budget Calculation page.

Copying Positions and Levels

Within COSMO Project Manufacturing, it is possible to copy Positions from one job to another. When a Position is copied, the subordinate Levels can be copied with it.

Search Job Lines Page

In the Job Budget Calculation, select the position to which the position or positions are to be copied before running the function and then choose the Copy from action on the Home menu. In the Search Job Line request page, enter the job information to copy. The Search Job Lines page opens with all suitable results.

Choose the New Search action to start a new search for the job copy, the Position Card action to open the Position Card for the selected job line, and the Planning and Processing action to open the Job Planning and Processing page for the select job line.

The fields at the top of the page are described in the following table.

Field Group Field Description
Options Type Specifies which lines are copied from job to job. The options are:
- Selected Positions: Copies multiple selected lines and transfers all to the same target level of the job line.
- Current position incl. substructure: Copies one line with sub-structure.
- All positions: Copies all lines.
Recalculate costs and prices Specifies whether the costs, prices, or costs and prices of the source job lines are recalculated in the new job lines.
Copy Process planning lines Determines if any process planning entries for the source job lines will be copied to the new job lines.
Calculation Schedules Determines if calculation schedules attached to the source job lines will be copied to the new job lines.
Checklists Determines if checklists attached to the source job lines will be copied to the new job lines.

Document BOMs Determines if document BOMs attached to the source job lines will be copied to the new job lines.

Copy Job Structure

To copy positions and levels from one job to another, follow these steps:

  1. Choose the Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature icon, enter Projects, and then choose the related link.

  2. Locate and select the job to which the structure will be copied.

  3. On the Home menu, choose the Budget Calculation action.

  4. On the Home menu, choose the New Position action.

    Note

    At least one Position must exist before a structure can be copied.

  5. On the Home menu, choose the Copy from action.

  6. On the Job FastTab, enter the job number to be copied in the No. filter field.

  7. Enter other filters as needed and then choose the OK button. Results that match the filtering criteria are displayed in the Search Job Lines page.

  8. In the Search Job Lines page, choose settings in the top of the page to determine if all lines or selected lines are copied, as well as what other information from the source job is to be included.

  9. Select the line or lines to be copied and then choose the OK button. The lines are integrated at the current job WBS position.

  10. If additional lines need to be copied, add additional positions and then repeat steps 5–8.

Note

Complete job structures can also be copied from one job to another using the Copy Job function.

Moving Positions and Levels

It is possible to move Positions and Levels in the Job Budget Calculation page. On the Actions menu, choose the Move menu and then choose the direction and degree of the move. The options are:

  • Up (from one Position)
  • Down (from one Position)
  • Outdent (move out a Level)
  • Indent (move in a Level)

Additionally, positions and related substructures can be moved using the Move Position function. In the Job Budget Calculation, select the position to move. On the Actions menu, choose Functions > Move Position. The Job Lines page opens with all job positions. Select the position to where the selected position is to be moved and then choose the OK button. The position and related substructures are inserted at the same level in which it was moved.
