Search and Replace Components
Due to resource or material availability, you can replace a particular service, item, or general component with another in the Job Budget Calculation page. This can be useful in situations, such as:
- Replacing an internal resource with an external resource
- Swapping the color or manufacturer of an item
- Exchanging an obsolete item with a successor
These exchanges can be done in all hierarchy levels at once, for selected lines, and the current line with substructure via the selection dialog box, which opens depending on the line(s) selected to ensure the correct line(s) are included:
- Current line – only the selected line is included and can be searched and replaced.
- Current line + sub-structure – the selected line and related positions/levels are included and can be searched and replaced.
- All lines – all lines are included and can be searched and replaced.
- Selected lines – only selected lines are included and can be searched and replaced.
Search and Replace Components Page
The Search and Replace Components page opens from the Job Budget Calculation page (Actions > Functions > Search and Replace Components) with sections for searching and replacing as well as update rules and options.
FastTab | Fields | Description |
---|---|---|
Search For | Type / No. | The available values you can select are based on the line selection when opening the page. For example, if you chose Current line, then only the same Type and No. from the current line can be selected in the Type and No. fields; if you chose All lines, then each Type and No. from the current and substructure lines can be selected in the Type and No. fields. The Type field defaults to Service or is automatically set to the same Type from the Job Budget Calculation line if these options are chosen in the selection dialog box: - Current Line - Current line + sub-structure - if each sub-structure has the same Type. - Selected lines - if each line has the same Type. |
Description | Displays the description of the searched component. | |
Search Result (cue) | Displays the number of records found in the Job Budget Calculation lines for the selected component. | |
Execute Replacement (cue) | Displays the number of records that were replaced in the Job Budget Calculation as well performs the replacement. | |
Replace With | Type / No. | The available values you can select are not limited to the line selection in the Job Budget Calculation. Any service, item, or general component can be chosen as the replacement for the searched component. |
Update Rules | Update All / Update Units and Prices | Determines whether all information in the Job Budget Calculation line is updated or just the units of measure and prices. These fields are mutually exclusive so turning on one turns off the other. |
Options | Save Job Version | Determines if a new version of the job is created before the replacement occurs. |
The replacement process can be started by choosing the OK button at the bottom of the page or by choosing the Execute Replacement cue in the Search For FastTab. Either method opens a message with the number of components to replace that must be confirmed to continue the process. Once the process is completed, the Search and Replace Components page will close if the OK button was used or will remain open if the Execute Replacement cue was used.
