Integration of COSMO Discrete Manufacturing

The COSMO Discrete Manufacturing integration to COSMO Process Manufacturing adds the enclosure function for mapping subcontracting with supply of material to production structures.

In the Laboratory Structure, Manufacturing Structure, and Bottling Structure pages, the values of the Enclosure and Enclosure Drop Shipment fields are transferred to the corresponding fields in the Production BOM.

In COSMO Discrete Manufacturing, the enclosure functionality is used with Document BOMs and Construction BOMs. With the integration to COSMO Process Manufacturing, the Production BOM is used.

In general, the same processes used in the External Production content are used for COSMO Process Manufacturing. Additional information is provided below.

Subcontracting Production Order

The Subcontracting Prod. Order page manages and controls each step of external production including supply of components.

After certifying a production structure with enclosure lines, create a production order and then open the Subcontracting Prod. Order page by choosing the Subcontracting action on the Home menu.

The general process is that you run the Create Purchase Order action, which creates a purchase order and transfer order simultaneously. You must first post the transfer order and then post the purchase order.

Drop Shipment to Subcontractor

If the Enclosure Drop Shipment checkbox is selected for an enclosure component, a purchase order will be created for that as well as when the Create Purchase Order action is run in the Subcontracting Prod. Order page. This purchase order should be processed last.
