Service Repair Worksheet
The Service Repair Worksheet page provides a single view of all open repair lines, showing the Return, Analysis, and Repair status of each line together with the action to take next. It is a faster entry point into the In-House Repair process described in Walkthrough - Process an In-House Repair, so you do not have to open several separate pages to check where a repair stands or to create a repair document.
Open the Worksheet
You can open the Service Repair Worksheet page from the Service Manager Role Center, by choosing the Service Repair Worksheet action, or by searching for it using the Tell Me search.
The Service Manager Role Center's Activities part also includes a Service Repair cue group. Choose one of the following tiles to open the Service Repair Worksheet page, filtered to the corresponding document type.
| Tile | Description |
|---|---|
| Repair Quote Lines | Shows the number of open service quote lines for components to be repaired. Choose the tile to open the worksheet filtered to quote lines. |
| Repair Order Lines | Shows the number of open service order lines for components to be repaired. Choose the tile to open the worksheet filtered to order lines. |
Lines Shown in the Worksheet
The worksheet lists service lines where Spare Part Action (DM) is Component Repaired or Repair Production Order, and the Outstanding Quantity is greater than 0. Each line displays the customer, service item, and a description, together with the Return Status, Analysis Status, and Repair Status fields.
For a Service Quote line, the Return Status, Analysis Status, and Repair Status fields remain blank, and only the Make Order action is available to convert the quote into a service order.
Selecting a line shows the Service Line Details FactBox, providing the same related item, availability, checklist, construction, and production information as in the Service Item Worksheet. For more information about the FactBox fields, see Service Item Worksheet, Service Line Details FactBox.
Create a New Repair
The New Service Repair dialog creates a service document, a service item line, and a repair line in a single step. It always creates a new service document; it cannot add a repair line to an existing service order or quote.
To create a new repair
Choose the New action to open the New Service Repair dialog.
Fill in the fields, as described in the following table. The Service Document Type, Service Order Type, Customer No., and Service Item No. fields must be filled in before you can complete the dialog.
Field Description Service Document Type Controls whether an order or a quote is created. Only Order and Quote are allowed. Service Order Type Specifies the repair-enabled Service Order Type for the service document. Only Service Order Types with the Repair checkbox selected can be selected. Customer No. Specifies the customer for the service document. Customer Name Indicates the name of the selected customer. Service Item No. Specifies the service item that is repaired. Service Item Description Indicates the description of the selected service item. Item No. Specifies the repaired item, selected from the active Service BOM of the service item. Always select the item using the lookup. If this field is left blank, the line is still created, but it is not marked as a repair line and does not appear in the Service Repair Worksheet. Item Description Indicates the description of the selected item. Analysis Specifies the resource that performs the repair analysis. Analysis Description Indicates the description of the selected analysis resource. Analysis Quantity Specifies the quantity for the repair analysis resource. When you enter an analysis resource without changing this field, the quantity defaults to 1. Choose OK to complete the dialog.
Completing the dialog with an Item No. selected from the lookup creates the repair line with Spare Part Action (DM) = Component Repaired and, when an analysis resource is entered, an additional analysis line. If Item No. was left blank, the line is created without this status, and you need to set the Spare Part Action (DM) field manually on the line in the Service Item Worksheet afterward.
Status Fields and Actions
The Return Status, Analysis Status, and Repair Status fields each show the status of the corresponding step for the line. Selecting a status field shows the actions currently available for that step, grouped under the Return, Analysis, and Repair action groups. When more than one action is available, a selection menu opens so you can choose which one to run; when only one action is available, it runs immediately without showing the menu. The following sections list the values each status field can show, what each value means, and which actions are available for it.
Return Status
The Return Status field shows the state of the return of the item being repaired.
| Value | Meaning | Available Actions |
|---|---|---|
| <blank> | No RMA number has been assigned yet, or no sales return order exists for it | Create Return Order |
| Created | A sales return order exists for the line's RMA number, but has not been printed | Open Return Order |
| Printed | The sales return order has been printed | Open Return Order |
| Received | Items have been posted against a return receipt for the line's RMA number | Open Return Order |
Each value has exactly one available action, so choosing the Return Status field always runs that action immediately.
Analysis Status
The Analysis Status field shows the state of the repair analysis, from creating an analysis line through to converting a repair quote into an order.
| Value | Meaning | Available Actions |
|---|---|---|
| <blank> | No repair quote worksheet has been created yet, and no components have been assigned in a construction order | Create Worksheet |
| Planned | An analysis line (Spare Part Action (DM) = Analysis) exists for the repair item line, but no construction order has been created from it | Create Construction Order, Create Production Order |
| Construction Order | A construction order has been created for the analysis production order line, but no production order has been created from it | Open Construction Order, Create Production Order |
| Production Order | A production order has been created from the construction order for the analysis production order line | Open Construction Order, Open Production Order |
| Quote Worksheet | A repair quote has been created for the line's RMA number and repair item line | Transfer to Order, Open Worksheet, Open Quote |
| Finished | Repair components have already been assigned, or the line's Spare Part Action (DM) is Repair Production Order | No action is available |
Repair Status
The Repair Status field shows the state of the actual repair, from assigning components through to shipping the repaired item.
| Value | Meaning | Available Actions |
|---|---|---|
| <blank> | No construction order exists yet, and no components have been assigned for the repair | Open Worksheet |
| Planned | Components have been assigned for the repair, but no construction order has been created yet | Open Worksheet, Create Construction Order, Create Production Order, Ship |
| Construction Order | A construction order has been created for the line, but no production order has been created from it | Open Worksheet, Open Construction Order, Create Production Order |
| Production Order | A production order has been created from the construction order for the line | Open Worksheet, Open Construction Order, Open Production Order, and Ship once the production order has no remaining quantity |
| Finished | The line's Outstanding Quantity is 0 | No action is available |
