Manufacturing Date
During manufacturing, the date in which the process is started (manufactured date) is not always the date that the output is posted (entry date). COSMO Process Manufacturing provides the Manufacturing Date field in multiple areas for storing the actual starting date for manufacturing an item. In the Item Tracking Code page, you can choose to calculate the expiration date from the Manufacturing Date.
For item inbound processes (e.g., purchase order, warehouse receipt, etc.), a manufacturing date can be entered in item tracking lines and will be stored in the Serial or Lot No. Information on posting. If a manufacturing date already exists for a serial or lot number, the existing date is pre-populated in Item Tracking Lines and cannot be changed.
For output posting in the Production Journal, the current work date is used as default for the manufacturing date if no manufacturing date exists for the respective serial or lot number.
Physical inventory recording lines also include the Manufacturing Date field. If a lot or serial number entered on a recording line already has a manufacturing date stored in Lot No. Information or Serial No. Information, that date is retrieved automatically and the field cannot be changed. If a new lot or serial number is entered, or an existing one has no stored manufacturing date, the field can be edited so that a manufacturing date can be provided. When a physical inventory order is finished, a manufacturing date must be available for lines with items that require manufacturing date entry; otherwise the order cannot be finished. The manufacturing date is then retained through posting and is available on the posted physical inventory recording and tracking pages.
The fields relating to the manufacturing date are described in the following table.
