Manage Text Additions
Text additions are predefined text snippets that can be inserted into long texts. The Rich Text Editor feature provides enhanced management for text additions with HTML formatting support.
View or create text additions
To view or create a new text addition:
- Open the Bill of Quantities Card.
- On the Administration FastTab, ensure the Long Text Editable toggle is turned on.
- In the BoQ Positions FastTab, choose the Text Additions action on the Line menu. Alternatively, choose the Yes value in the Text Additional Bidder or Text Additional Buyer field. The Text Additions page opens.
- Choose the New action.
- Fill in the following fields:
- Label: A numeric identifier (1-10 digits) that uniquely identifies the text addition for GAEB export/import. Example: "61" or "1234567890".
- Caption: A descriptive name for the text addition (e.g., "Manufacturer").
- In the body of the Caption section, enter and format the text content using the Rich Text Editor.
- Close the page to save the text addition.
If you attempt to save a text addition with an invalid label format, you will receive an error message.
Use placeholder syntax
When importing GAEB files with text additions, the system automatically recognizes text additions embedded in the HTML content using a special HTML attribute format. Text additions in imported HTML are identified by the text-addition-label attribute.
Placeholders have the following restrictions:
- Placeholders are automatically recognized during GAEB import only; manual placeholder entry using bracket syntax like
[CODE=Description]is not supported in the Rich Text Editor. - Text additions are stored as HTML elements with the
text-addition-labelattribute in the background. - The label value in the HTML must match a text addition record's Label field.
- Text additions are displayed with their formatted content when viewing in the Rich Text Editor.
- Modifying text addition content requires editing the text addition record itself, not the placeholder in the long text.
