Introduction to COSMO Rental Demo Data

Welcome to the documentation for the COSMO Rental Demo Data app. This app adds demo data that helps you learn how to use the capabilities of COSMO Rental in Business Central.

The following sections walk you through the setup that must be done to prepare for and use the COSMO Rental demo data in the different demo areas.

Activate new sales pricing experience

Before setting up the demo data, activate the New sales pricing experience feature (if not already done):

  1. Choose the Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature icon, enter Feature Management, and then choose the related link.
  2. Navigate to the New sales pricing experience line and then change the Enabled for field to All Users.
  3. Choose the Date Update action.

Set up Rental data

To use the COSMO Rental Demo Dataset you must install the following apps in Business Central:

  • Contoso Coffee Demo Dataset
    • This app delivers demo data for the base application.
  • Contoso Coffee Demo Dataset (country ID).
    • This app adds country-specific content on top of the base application.
  • COSMO Rental Demo Dataset
    • This app delivers demo data for COSMO Rental.

To check if the apps are installed:

  1. Choose the Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature icon, enter Extension Management, and then choose the related link. This opens the Installed Extensions page.
  2. Search for Contoso Coffee Demo Dataset, Contoso Coffee Demo Dataset (country ID), and COSMO Rental Demo Dataset.
  3. If any of the apps are not installed:
    1. Choose the AppSource Gallery action.
    2. Search for the app that is not installed, open the link and then choose the Install App action.
    3. In the Extension Installation page, choose the Install button and then follow the prompts to complete the installation.
    4. Repeat for the other missing demo dataset apps.

To start the setup process:

  1. Choose the Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature icon, enter Contoso Demo Tool, and then choose the related link.
  2. Navigate to the COSMO Rental Module line.
  3. Choose the Generate action.

Apply rental administrator role

The Rental Administrator role provides the most efficient COSMO Rental user experience.

  1. Choose the Icon that opens the list with My Settings icon and then select My Settings from the menu. Alternatively, you can use the Tell Me feature.
  2. In the Role field, choose the ellipsis button.
  3. In the Available Roles page, select Rental Administrator and then choose the OK button.
  4. Choose the OK button to close the My Settings page and save your changes.

Demo areas

  • Contracting: This scenario shows you how to create a rental item and make a contract with a customer.
  • More areas will be added in the future.
