Check Tool and Insert Usage
Machines, tools and inserts are necessary for production. Each can be used without setting up any specific combinations in the Production Order or in the Sequence Planning. However, it is possible to set up rules for using tools and/or inserts. Tools/Inserts can be assigned to specific work centers/tools and can be set up to only use the assigned tool/inserts.
Work Centers and Tools
Tools can be assigned to specific work centers in the Sequence Work Center Card page.
With this setup, the assigned tools can be used with this machine, but other tools can be assigned to this machine in the sequence planning. To ensure that only these tools are used with this machine in sequence planning, turn on the Check Tool Usage toggle on the Scheduling FastTab on the Sequence Work Center Card.
With this setup, only the assigned tools can be selected with the Change Tool function in Sequence Planning (see Change Tool).
Tools and Inserts
Just as with work centers and tools, inserts can be assigned to specific tools.
With this setup, the assigned inserts can be used with this tool, but other inserts can be assigned to this tool in the sequence planning. To ensure that only these inserts are used with this machine in sequence planning, turn on the Check Insert Usage toggle on the Scheduling FastTab on the Tool Work Center Card.
With this setup, only the assigned inserts can be selected with the Change Insert function in Sequence Planning (see Change Insert).
