Text Module Setup for Rental
When setting up COSMO Text Module for use with COSMO Rental, you should consider where you plan to use text: pop-ups when opening Rental documents and/or text in printed documents.
This topic describes the base setup needed to use COSMO Text Module with COSMO Rental.
Text Module Setup
- Choose the
icon, enter Setup - Text Module, and then choose the related link.
- Hover over a field to read a short description. If you need more information, see Text Module Setup.
- On the Related menu, choose Setup > Predefined Setup to create data for standard finance, manufacturing, and service areas.
The expert setup pages (Text Module Use in Area Base List and Text Module Objects Setup) accessed from the Expert menu or Tell Me are populated with this default data. However, the new Rental area and customized reports must be added manually.
Use in Area Base List
This setup identifies the modules that can use COSMO Text Module. The following setup follows the naming conventions used with the default data but can be changed to suit your preferences.
- On the Related menu, choose Expert > Use in Area Base List.
- In the Area Code field, enter RENTAL.
- In the Description field, enter Area for Rental.
Text Module Objects Setup
Only the reports and tables entered in the Text Module Objects Setup page can be used with COSMO Text Module. The COSMO Rental reports that are configured for use with COSMO Text Module are:
- 5072459, COSMO Rental - Contract/Reservation
- 5072460, COSMO Rental - Quote
- 5072461, COSMO Rental - Shipment
- 5072462, COSMO Rental - Return Receipt
- 5072463, COSMO Rental - Draft Invoice
- 5072464, COSMO Rental - Invoice
- 5072653, COSMO Rental - Credit Memo
To assign reports
- On the Related menu, choose Expert > Object Setup.
- Choose the New action.
- In the Object Type field, choose the Report option.
- In the Object ID field, enter the report number that will use COSMO Text Module features as listed above.
- Ensure that the Use checkbox is selected.
- In the Use in Area Code field, enter RENTAL.
- Repeat these steps for all reports that will be used.
To assign tables (for pop-ups)
If the predefined setup was run, the tables (Sales Header and Sales Line) that are needed to use the pop-up windows are already activated for use. If not, then add these tables.
- Choose the New action.
- In the Object Type field, choose the Table option.
- In the Object ID field, enter 36 for sales header.
- Ensure that the Use checkbox is selected.
- In the Use in Area Code field, enter RENTAL.
- Repeat these steps to add Table 37 for sales line.
Print Management
In the Text Module Print Management page, you specify which reports will allow the text to be printed as well as whether pop-ups are used:
- If you have information that will be used only for printing and doesn't need to be reviewed prior to printing, then create a Print Management code that only has the relevant Rental reports.
- If you have information that will only be used internally, create a Print Management code that only has the Sales Header and Sales Line tables for the specific type of document.
- If you have information that is useful for printing and as a pop-up, create a Print Management code that includes the relevant Rental reports and the Sales Header and Sales Line tables.
To configure for printing text on Rental documents
- Choose the
icon, enter Print Management List - Text Module, and then choose the related link.
- Choose the New action.
- In the Code field, enter a unique identifier (e.g., RENTAL).
- In the Description field, enter a short description of the code (e.g., Rental Reports).
- In the Line FastTab, enter Report in the Output Type field.
- In the Output ID field, enter the relevant report ID.
- Go to the next open line.
- Repeat steps 5-7 for all relevant reports.
To configure for pop-ups on Rental documents
If you are using pop-up windows, you need to specify the sales header and/or lines table and then specify which sales (Rental) documents (i.e., rental quotes, contracts, etc.).
- Choose the
icon, enter Print Management List - Text Module, and then choose the related link.
- Choose the New action.
- In the Code field, enter a unique identifier (e.g., RENTAL PU).
- In the Description field, enter a short description of the code (e.g., Rental Pop-Ups).
- In the Line FastTab, enter Table in the Output Type field.
- In the Output ID enter 36 for sales header.
- In the Output Document Type field, enter:
- 0 for rental quotes
- 1 for rental contracts/reservations
- 2 for rental invoices
- 3 for rental credit memos
- 5 for rental returns
- Enter a description as needed.
- Go to the next open line.
- In the Object Type field, enter Table.
- In the Output ID enter 37 for sales line.
- In the Output Document Type field, enter the value as described in step 7.
- Go to the next open line.
- Repeat steps 5-13 for all relevant Rental document types.
To configure for printing and pop-ups on Rental Documents
- Choose the
icon, enter Print Management List - Text Module, and then choose the related link.
- Choose the New action.
- In the Code field, enter a unique identifier (e.g., RENTAL ALL).
- In the Description field, enter a short description of the code (e.g., Rental Reports and Pop-Ups).
- In the Line FastTab, enter Report in the Output Type field.
- In the Output ID field, enter the relevant report ID.
- Go to the next open line.
- Repeat steps 5-7 for all relevant reports.
- Go to the next open line.
- In the Object Type field, enter Table.
- In the Output ID enter 36 for sales header.
- In the Output Document Type field, enter:
- 0 for rental quotes
- 1 for rental contracts/reservations
- 2 for rental invoices
- 3 for rental credit memos
- 5 for rental returns
- Enter a description as needed.
- Go to the next open line.
- In the Object Type field, enter Table.
- In the Output ID enter 37 for sales line.
- In the Output Document Type field, enter the value as described in step 12.
- Go to the next open line.
- Repeat steps 10-18 for all relevant Rental document types.
