Maintenance-/Setup Matrix
Setup Orders can be inserted manually into the sequence planning to improve the planning.
With the setup matrix, you can configure the settings for setup times if a work center, an item, or a tool is changed within the sequence. This information is used within the sequence planning to perform an automatic setup time calculation.
Setup
The Maintenance-/Setup Matrix page is accessed using Tell Me. Choose the icon, enter Maintenance-/Setup Matrix, and then choose the related link.
The fields in the General and Options sections are used only for filtering purposes. In these fields, enter the values, for example a certain tool, to automatically insert this data on the lines during data entry.
In the lines, you can select a work center and a change. In the same line, you can enter the time and unit of measure that is needed for the change. You can also configure:
- Work Center Number
- Item Category
- Item Number
- Item Variant Code
- Tool Number
- Manufacturing Dimension Code and Value
- Start Date
- Ending Date
Note
In the General section, the values in the From Mfg. Dimension Code and To Mfg. Dimension Code fields must be equal if Manufacturing Dimensions are used.
Maintenance-/Setup Job Field
The Maint.-/Setup Job Type No. field on the Maintenance-/Setup Matrix page allows you to select an existing maintenance-/setup job. If the field remains empty, it has a different effect on the calculation:
- If the field is empty, the predefined value is transferred to the related routing during the calculation of setup times.
- If the field contains a number, a separate maintenance-/setup job is created in the sequence planning in the calculation.
Non-specific tool changes
To change from any tool to any other tool as long as no specific line is entered, create a line with an empty From Tool No. or To Tool No. field. Based on this setup, this matrix line will be used if the tool changes from one Production Order to another and the change occurs from any tool or no tool to any other or no tool.
Use of the Setup Matrix
Once data is entered in the setup matrix, it can be used in sequence planning.
For example, in the sequence planning for a machine, there are several planned production orders for several items.
Review the settings for the changes in the setup matrix. Changes can be defined between tools and items.
Manufacturing Dimensions in Maintenance-/Setup Matrix
Maintenance-/Setup Orders can be inserted between production order lines if there is a change in the manufacturing dimensions between production order lines. Therefore, it is possible to enter a Maintenance-/Setup Matrix line with values in following fields:
- From Mfg. Dimension Code
- From Mfg. Dimension Value Code
- To Mfg. Dimension Code
- To Mfg. Dimension Value Code
Note
In the General section, the values in the From Mfg. Dimension Code and To Mfg. Dimension Code fields must match.
A Maintenance-/Setup Matrix line is used only if both production order lines contain a value for the entered manufacturing dimension.
