User Setup
Resource scheduling is usually the responsibility of a few selected users. For this reason, basic authorization occurs in the User Setup page.
Only users who have the Resource Scheduling Auth. checkbox selected can perform the automatic assignment of resource scheduling. This prevents unauthorized users from changing the shift scheduling.
Another setting in the User Setup page is the Shift Specification Code, which defines a default for the various views of the resource scheduling data. This default setting determines, for example, which shift is displayed.
Shift Specifications
The user's view can be set to information for an extended or reduced period of time. This period is created as a shift specification. The shift specification defines when a shift starts and when it ends. If, for example, a three-shift operation is to be displayed for the user, a start time and an end time must be defined for each of the three shifts.
The Shift Specifications page is accessed using Tell Me. Choose the icon, enter Shift Specifications, and then choose the related link.
In the top of the Shift Specifications page, enter the time specification for the shifts within a day. Each row in the shift specification corresponds to one shift. In the Lines FastTab, enter the correlating starting and ending times for the shift.
As previously described, the view of shifts can be preset for each user in the Shift Specification Code field in the User Setup page. If no setting has been made for the user, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central will use the default setting in the Planning Extension Setup page. For more information, see Planning Extension Setup.
