Standard Maintenance Orders
In general, there is a difference between planned (periodic) and unplanned maintenance orders. The processing after the maintenance order is created is the same. The processes for working with these types of maintenance orders are described in this topic.
Planned Maintenance Orders / Maintenance Order Templates
A maintenance order template can be created manually by entering Maintenance Templates in Tell Me and then choosing the New action. The Status is set to Planning when created manually.
If the maintenance is performed by an external service provider, enter the vendor in the Vendor No. field on the General FastTab and only G/L accounts in the lines.
To insert comments into lines, leave the Type field blank and enter the comment in the Description field.
The validity dates of the template can be specified in the Starting Date and Ending Date fields on the General FastTab. The Starting Date determines the Next Maintenance Date, which is when the next service should be performed. This date can be changed manually.
After service has been performed, the Next Maintenance Date field is recalculated (based on the Maintenance Interval), and the Last Maintenance Date field contains the date of the most recent service. This date cannot be edited.
Note
If you have the integration with Advanced Manufacturing Suite (AMS), then header and line text can be added to the maintenance template. For more information about AMS integrations in AMP, see To open or add text in maintenance template header and lines.
Create Maintenance Orders
Maintenance Orders can be created using either of the following methods:
- Single order directly from the maintenance template
- Multiple orders using the Create Maintenance Orders batch job
Create Single Maintenance Order
After the template is set up, choose the Create Maintenance Order action. Choose the Yes button to create the maintenance order on the date specified in the Next Maintenance Date field. This date is set as the Starting Date on the new maintenance order.
Note
If a maintenance order already exists for the maintenance template for the maintenance date, a message will open asking to confirm the creation.
If created from a template, the number is displayed in the Created-by Template No. field on the maintenance order.
Create Multiple Maintenance Orders
The Create Maintenance Orders batch job is accessed using Tell Me. Choose the 
icon, enter Create Maintenance Orders, and then choose the related link to open the batch job.
Limit the maintenance orders created by entering start and end dates on the Options FastTab. Turn on the Create all orders in period toggle to include all the templates where the Next Maintenance Date falls within the specified period.
On the Maintenance Order FastTab, filter on the templates, machine numbers, and so on to include in the creation process. Choose the OK button to begin the creation process.
Unplanned Maintenance Orders
In contrast to the planned maintenance orders that are generated from a template, unplanned maintenance orders are created directly from the Maintenance Order page.
The Maintenance Order page contains the same fields as the Maintenance Order Template page but also includes the Damage Reason and Damage Type fields.
The maintenance order can be printed by choosing the Print action. This provides the technician with information about the maintenance order.
Note
If you have the integration with Advanced Manufacturing Suite (AMS), then header and line text can be added to the maintenance order and printed in the Maintenance Order report. Create Production Order from Maintenance Order
Production Orders can be created directly from the maintenance order by choosing the Create Prod. Order action. Before running this function, set the Status field on the maintenance order to Released.
Set any other filter as needed and then choose the OK button to create the production order for the maintenance order. After the production order is created, a message opens that states how many production orders were created and production order information is transferred to the Manufacturing FastTab on the Maintenance Order.
The maintenance order and production order are now linked and can be compared with each other.
Sequence Planning
If a production order is created from a maintenance order (for a sequence work center), the production order is displayed in sequence planning as a maintenance-/setup order and can be scheduled from the production planner.
Sequence Planning can be accessed by choosing the Sequence Planning action on the Maintenance Order.
Production and Maintenance Planning
The Adjustment Maintenance page is used for the coordination of production planning and maintenance planning. This page displays all maintenance orders that have been created along with the relevant production order information and allows you to open the maintenance order and the sequence planning to process planning corrections.
On the Maintenance Order, choose the Adjustment Maintenance action. Select a line and then choose the View action on the Manage menu to open the Adjust. Maintenance Card page, which provides a better overview of the comparison.
If the production planner and the maintenance planner agree upon a date, it is confirmed by using the Copy Starting Date from Production Order function. That means that the production information is transferred to the maintenance order (and not from the maintenance order to the production order). The Coordinated toggle is turned on after confirmation.
On the maintenance order, the Manufacturing FastTab contains all the relevant data, such as if a production order is fixed in sequence and starting/ending dates.
Once there is a change in the production planning or maintenance order, the Coordinated toggle is turned off and the confirmation process must begin again.
