Multi-Level Calculation Setup
Items must be configured with appropriate BOM structures and replenishment settings to use Multi-Level Calculation. This topic describes the setup requirements for both manufacturing and assembly items.
Manufacturing Items Setup
Manufacturing items with nested production BOMs are the primary use case for Multi-Level Calculation. For more information, see Multi-Level Manufacturing Calculations.
To set up a manufacturing item for multi-level calculation
- Choose the
icon, enter Items, and choose the related link. - Open the Item Card for the manufacturing item.
- On the Replenishment FastTab:
- Set Replenishment System to Prod. Order.
- Ensure a certified production BOM is assigned in the Production BOM No. field.
- Ensure a routing is assigned if capacity costs are needed.
- For calculations based on production orders, on the Planning FastTab, set Reordering Policy to Order. This makes sure that multi-level production orders are created. For more information, see Calculation (Expected).
- Verify that the production BOM includes components that themselves have production BOMs for multiple levels of calculation.
To set up a calculation schedule
- Choose the
icon, enter Calculation Schedules, and choose the related link. - Create or select a calculation schedule.
- Configure the schedule with appropriate calculation methods for manufacturing items.
To automatically apply a calculation schedule when creating calculations
- Open the Item Card for the item
- On the Prices & Sales FastTab, fill in the Standard Calc. Schedule No. field with the desired calculation schedule
When you create a calculation for this item, the standard calculation schedule is applied automatically.
Assembly Items with Manufacturing Components
Assembly items (Replenishment System = Assembly) can use Multi-Level Calculation when their assembly BOM contains manufacturing components. When an assembly item includes components with Replenishment System = Prod. Order, Multi-Level Calculation automatically processes those manufacturing items and their subordinate BOMs.
For details, see Mixed Assembly and Manufacturing Items.
