Repair Lines from Item Service Codes
When Get Item Service Codes is used to insert service lines, marking a component as Service Repair inserts a service line with the Spare Part Action (DM) field set to Component Repaired, and with the internal Component Line No. and Service BOM reference populated. The Repair Item Line No. field of that line refers to the line itself.
Every service line inserted from a code receives the line number of the nearest repair service line above it in the Service BOM structure in its Repair Item Line No. field. A component can therefore be marked as repaired on a higher level, while codes are selected on components further down; those lines are assigned to the same repair service line.
Only service lines with the Spare Part Action (DM) field set to Component Repaired or Analysis Production Order can be referenced in the Repair Item Line No. field. On such a line, the Repair Components assigned field counts the service lines that refer to it and have no spare part action, Component Installed, or Component Replaced. The Repair Analysis assigned field counts the service lines that refer to it and have Analysis or Analysis Production Order.
When a code's lines are inserted, a line marked as Spare Part or Wear Part on the Standard Service Code is linked to a Service BOM component if exactly one component below the same node matches on item number and on the same Spare Part or Wear Part value. In that case, the Spare Part Action (DM) field of the new service line is set to Component Replaced, and the internal Replaced Item No. and Component Line No. fields are populated, as when a line is inserted through the Insert from Service BOM function.
If no component matches, or more than one component matches, the service line is inserted without a spare part action and without a component reference.
Note
On the Service Code Selection page, only Service Repair can be selected. To set a different Spare Part Action (DM), such as Component Installed or Analysis, change it on the service line after insertion. For more information, see To set a different spare part action manually.
