EDI Transport Labels
EDI transport labels are standardized shipping labels that facilitate automated data exchange in supply chain management as part of the COSMO Transport module. These labels contain structured information that can be read both by humans and automated systems, enabling efficient logistics processes across different partners and systems.
Transport labels serve as the physical bridge between digital EDI transactions and the actual goods being shipped. They contain essential information about shipments, including:
- Identification data: Part numbers, serial numbers, and customer-specific references
- Quantity information: Package contents and measurements
- Logistics data: Shipping addresses, routing codes, and delivery instructions
- Traceability information: Batch numbers, dates, and control data
Odette Transport Labels
There are two types of Odette transport labels:
VDA 4992 MAT Label
The VDA 4992 transport label has two different layouts to fit small and large packages:
Each label type follows specific industry standards and contains structured data fields that correspond to information in the EDI transport documents.
Drawing No. and Index
The Drawing No. and Drawing Index can be found in the Item and the Item Reference. When creating a sales order, the drawing information is transferred from the item or reference (if found) to the sales line, sales shipment line and subsequently to the Item label. It is then printed in the VDA 4992 MAT, OTL1 and OTL3 labels.
