Structural Plan
The Structural Plan defines the processing structure for the job. The PaC Structural Plan page is accessed from the PaC Job by choosing Processing > Structural Plan or Build Execution > Structural Plan on the Jobs FastTab of the Construction Project page.
PaC Structural Plan Page
The PaC Structural Plan page is similar to the BoQ Budget Calculation in that the new positions and levels are used to create the hierarchical structure. Several of the same fields are used in both pages as well, many of which are FlowFields from the BoQ Budget Calculation to the PaC Structural Plan.
The fields in the PaC Structural Plan page that are specific to this page are described in the following table.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Type of Structure (PaC) | Indicates the line type of the automatically created positions. The options are: - Cost Type: one position per Cost Type is created as a headline. - Calculation Group: specifies which calculation group summary is used. - Material Demand: specifies the positions that are relevant for the material demands based on the BoQ Job. - Component Group: one headline is created per each Component Group. At least one headline "Without Component Groups" is created if Component Groups are not used in items. - Execution Unit: one headline is created per each Execution Unit. |
Execution Code | Identifies the code of the Execution Unit. For more information, see PaC Structural Plan with Execution Units. |
Quantity | Specifies the new planning quantity. This amount can be the same as the estimate but is typically changed when the Project Manager or Engineer re-plans the job with better estimates. |
Allocated Quantity from BoQ | Displays the value from the Allocated Quantity to PaC field in the BoQ Budget Calculation, which is based on calculated estimates. |
Allocated Total Cost from BoQ | Displays the value from the Allocated Total Cost to PaC field in the BoQ Budget Calculation. |
Allocated Sales Line Amount from BoQ | Displays the value from the Allocated Sales Line Amount to PaC field in the BoQ Budget Calculation. |
Procurement BoQ Position No. | Defaults from the Execution Unit. For more information, see PaC Structural Plan with Execution Units. |
Procurement BoQ Position Type | Defaults from the Execution Unit. For more information, see PaC Structural Plan with Execution Units. |
The actions in the PaC Structural Plan page that are specific to this page are described in the following table.
Menu | Action | Description |
---|---|---|
Home | Execution Units > Insert/Update Work Packages | Creates the PaC Structural Plan based on the BoQ Budget Calculation structure defined in the Execution Unit Type = Work Package. For more information, see PaC Structural Plan with Execution Units. |
Execution Units > Insert Placing Units | Creates the PaC Structural Plan based on the BoQ Budget Calculation structure defined in the Execution Unit Type = Placing Unit. For more information, see PaC Structural Plan with Execution Units. |
|
Get Calculation Groups | Inserts calculation groups from BoQ positions. | |
Get Material Demands | Calculates items with Calculation Groups that are set up with Type of Structure (PaC) = Material Demand. | |
Processing | Allocation View | Opens the Job Line Allocations page, which displays all BoQ Positions that have been allocated to the Structural Plan. |
Actions > Functions | Update Allocation | Updates the Allocation View with new allocations. |
The FactBoxes in the PaC Structural Plan page that are specific to this page are described in the following table.
FactBox | Description |
---|---|
Allocation Lines | Displays the allocation information between BoQ Job lines and PaC Job lines, including the BoQ Position No., Quantity for Allocation, and Unit of Measure Code (Base). |
Document Box | If you have the integration with Advanced Construction Suite (ACS), this FactBox is available. For more information, see Integration of COSMO Document Management System. |
Create Structure
After creating the PaC Job, information must be transferred from the BoQ Job. The Get Calculation Groups and Get Material Demands functions assist in transferring the information.
After the base information is transferred from the BoQ Job, specific services and materials can be added to the PaC Structural Plan using the New Line and New Level functions.
Get Calculation Groups
As with any COSMO Project Manufacturing structure, a new line must be created before any lines can be added.
- On the Home menu, choose the Get Calculation Groups action to create the PaC Structural Plan with calculation groups. A message opens asking to insert the calculation groups below the WBS position.
- Choose the Yes button.
The structure is created for Wages, as that cost type has calculated entries.
Get Material Demands
Material Demand lines are created for Items and General Components, which are set up as Material Demand. General Component quantities are not summarized in PaCs.
- To update the costs for material demands, select the row for Cost Type = Material and then choose the Get Material Demands action on the Home menu. A message opens asking to insert the material demands.
- Choose the Yes button to insert the material demands below the selected Material line.
The calculated material demand from the BoQ Budget Calculation is inserted below the selected position.
Note
If the Split Demand (PaC) checkbox is selected on the Item Card, the item quantities calculated in BoQs are not summarized in PaCs.
Update Quantities
Once the calculation groups and material demand have been added, quantities are updated to include actual values, as opposed to the estimated values for the quote.
View and Update Allocations
The Job Line Allocations page shows the allocations that have been made in the PaC Structural Plan from running the Get Calculation Groups and Get Material Demands functions.
On the PaC Structural Plan page, choose the Allocation View action on the Processing menu.
If something is changed in the BoQ Job after the PaC Structural Plan has been created – for example, because of an increase of BoQ quantities – use the Update Allocation function to update the information.
View Allocated Values in BoQ Budget Calculation
The allocated values are visible in the allocated fields in the BoQ Budget Calculation.
