PaC Structural Plan with Execution Units
Execution Units for both work packages and placing units can be used to create the PaC Structural Plan. The difference is the creation method. In the PaC Structural Plan, there are two options:
- Insert/Update Work Packages – inserts selected Work Packages below the current WBS Job Line.
- Insert Placing Units – inserts selected Placing Units below the current WBS Job Line.
This section describes how to create the PaC Structural Plans for work packages and placing units.
Example – Create PaC Structural Plan for Work Packages
In this example, PaC jobs are created and assigned to the Execution Units for the work packages. In the PaC Structural Plan page, the Insert/Update Work Packages function is run to create the structure per execution unit.
Assign PaC Job to Execution Units
Execution Units must be released to be used in the PaC Structural Plan. Therefore, each work package is released after the PaC job is assigned.
Note
The Update Controlling Values function should also be run prior to release.
- Open the first work package Execution Unit.
- On the Home menu, choose the Create and Assign Job action.
- Choose the Yes button to create the new job.
The Assigned PaC Job No. field is updated with the number of the new PaC job. - Choose the Release action to release the Execution Unit for PaC Structural Plan usage.
- Choose the icon to open the next work package Execution Unit.
- Repeat the steps to create and assign the PaC job and then release the Execution Unit.
- Close the Execution Unit page and return to the Execution Units page. Note that the Assigned PaC Job No. and Status fields have been updated.
Note
Alternatively, an existing PaC job can be assigned manually to the Assigned PaC Job No. field in the execution unit.
Create PaC Structural Plan
In the Construction Project, choose the Work Package PaC job, and then choose the Structural Plan action on the Build Execution menu.
As with any COSMO Project Manufacturing structure, a new position must be created before any lines can be added.
- On the New menu, choose the Insert/Update Work Packages action to create the PaC Structural Plan based on the work package Execution Units. The Execution Units page opens for selection of the work package Execution Units to include in the Structural Plan.
- In this example, both work packages need to be included so select both Execution Units and then choose the OK button. A message opens asking to insert the work packages below the WBS position.
- Choose the Yes button.
The first level of the structure is based on the separate work package Execution Units. The next levels are the substructures that are based on cost types, calculation groups, and material demand. The substructures include the calculated components from the Execution Unit assignment.
Example – Create PaC Structural Plan for Placing Units
In this example, a Placing Unit (PU) job is created and assigned to the Execution Unit for the placing unit. In the PaC Structural Plan page, the Insert Placing Units function is run to create the structure directly from an Execution Unit.
Assign PaC Job to Execution Units
Execution Units must be released to be used in the PaC Structural Plan.
Note
The Update Controlling Values function should also be run prior to release.
- Open the Execution Unit for the placing unit.
- On the Home menu, choose the Create and Assign Job action.
- Choose the Yes button to create the new job.
The Assigned PaC Job No. field is updated with the number of the new PU job. - On the Release menu, choose the Release action to release the Execution Unit for PaC Structural Plan usage.
- Close the Execution Unit page and return to the Execution Units page. Note that the Assigned PaC Job No. and Status fields have been updated.
Note
Alternatively, an existing PU job can be assigned manually to the Assigned PaC Job No. field in the execution unit.
Create PaC Structural Plan
- In the Construction Project, choose the Placing Unit PaC job, and then choose the Structural Plan action on the Build Execution menu.
- As with any COSMO Project Manufacturing structure, a new position must be created before any lines can be added.
- On the New menu, choose the Insert Placing Units action to create the PaC Structural Plan based on the placing unit Execution Units. A message opens asking to insert the work packages below the WBS position.
- Choose the Yes button. The Execution Units page opens for placing unit selection.
- With the Placing Unit line selected, choose the OK button. A message opens asking to expand the placing unit like a BOM. Choose the Yes button to expand the placing unit.
The structure is created as a one-to-one copy of the BoQ Budget Calculation, including all components that were used for the calculation.
