Quantity Determination
Quantity determination allows you to calculate and determine quantities for lines with BoQ Position Type = Normal, Optional, and Alternative.
Note
If you are using the Free Measurement process description, only comments are supported in the Lines FastTab (Line Tag = Comment). Comments have no impact on the quantity determination.
Quantity Determination Page
The information needed to calculate the quantity is entered in the Quantity Determination page, which is opened from the BoQ Budget Calculation and BoQ Position List pages by choosing the value in the Determined Quantity field or by choosing Actions > BoQ > Quantity Determination or Actions > Functions > Quantity Determination, respectively.
FastTab | Field | Description |
---|---|---|
General | BoQ Pos. No. | Indicates the position number of the related BoQ line. |
Description | Indicates the description of the related BoQ line. | |
Unit of Measure Code | Indicates the unit of measure code of the related BoQ line. | |
Quantity | Indicates the quantity of the related BoQ line. | |
Lines | Line Tag | Indicates the type of line, relating to the REB 23.003 formula calculation. The options are: - <Blank>: formula line - * Comment: comment line For more information, see REB 23.003 Processing. |
Explanation | Explains the used formula, relating to the REB 23.003 formula calculation. For more information, see REB 23.003 Processing. |
|
Factor | Specifies the factor to which the formula is multiplied, relating to the REB 23.003 formula calculation. For more information, see REB 23.003 Processing. |
|
Formula No. | Specifies the code of the formula that is used to calculate the quantity, relating to the REB 23.003 formula calculation. - Formula number 91 is supported as a free formula (allowed arithmetic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and mathematical operations: parentheses, exponents/roots) with multiple calculations. - Formula number 00 is supported as well but uses a formula editor (allowed arithmetic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) with a limit of five calculations. For new lines, the code for formula number 91 is entered automatically. If Line Tag = Comment, this value is cleared. For more information, see REB 23.003 Processing. |
|
Formula | Specifies the formula to calculate the quantity, relating to the REB 23.003 formula calculation. The formula must end with a "=" sign; one is added automatically if it is missing. If the Line Tag = * Comment, then the comment is entered here. For more information, see REB 23.003 Processing. |
|
Result | Displays the result of the formula, relating to the REB 23.003 formula calculation. For more information, see REB 23.003 Processing. |
The fields at the bottom of the page are described in the following table.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Determined Quantity | Indicates the total quantity calculated by the formula lines in the Lines FastTab. |
Quantity Determination Rounding | Determines whether or how the quantity is rounded. The options are: - Without Rounding: quantity is not rounded. - 10s digit: quantity is rounded to the nearest 10. - 1 decimal digit: quantity is rounded to the first decimal place. - Integer: quantity is rounded to the nearest integer. For example, if the determined quantity is 242.28 or 246.83, then setting the rounding to: - 10s digit = 240 or 250 - 1 decimal digit = 242.3 or 246.8 - Integer = 242 or 247 |
Determined Quantity (Rounded) | Indicates the rounded quantity based on the prior two fields. |
On the Actions menu, choose the Apply Determined Quantity action to transfer the calculated rounded quantity to the Quantity field and the calculated quantity to the Determined Quantity field for the current BoQ line in the BoQ Budget Calculation and BoQ Position List pages.
The Apply Determined Quantity action can also be run from the Actions menu on the BoQ Budget Calculation and BoQ Position List pages. If applied this way, a request form allows you to choose the quantity transfer to:
- the current BoQ line
- the current BoQ line and sub-structure
- all lines
- selected lines
- bill of quantities
