BoQ Position List
Once jobs are ready for calculation processing, open the BoQ Position List page from the Calculation menu on the Jobs FastTab in the Construction Project page.
The BoQ Position List page shows the complete list of positions in the specification, with the allocated units of measure.
The top section of the BoQ Position List page displays the calculations that were entered in the BoQ Budget Calculation or Fast Calculation pages and the Calculation FastTab shows those calculations as well as allows calculations to be made or edited.
Top Section
The fields in the top section of the BoQ Position List are described in the following table.
Field | Description |

/ | Expands or collapses all groups within the sub-structure or individual lines. In the header row, choose the icons to expand or collapse all the levels. In the lines, choose the icons to expand/collapse individual rows. |
BoQ Pos. No. | Specifies the number of a BoQ position which is referenced in different processes, e.g., in a Sales Quote. The BoQ Position No. can be entered manually (if Free ON Allowed is enabled) or by using the Set BoQ Position No. action. |
BoQ Position Type | Specifies the position type and defines the specification. The options are: - Group: used for grouping the positions in a hierarchy, - Normal: used for common sales positions - Optional: used for additional sales positions that are not required. - Alternative: provides a different option for another sales position. - Text: used for general text that is not a sales position. |
Calculation Status | Indicates the status of the calculation for the position. The options are: - <Blank>: no calculations have been done for the position. - In Progress: calculations have been started for the position. - Calculated: calculations are done for the position and the Change Calculation Status function has been run. - Fixed: calculations are done for the position and the prices have been fixed. Description | Displays the position description. |
Long Text | Indicates whether long text exists for the position or not. This text can be viewed in the Long Text FactBox or the BoQ Job Texts page, which is accessed by choosing the value in this field or choosing the Line > Short/Long Text action on the Related menu. This BoQ text is transferred to the sales and purchase documents and is accessible through the Long Text fields. |
Text Supplement Bidder | Indicates whether text from the Supplement Bidder exists for the position or not. This text can be viewed in the Long Text FactBox or the BoQ Job Texts page, which is accessed by choosing the value in this field or using the Line > Short/Long Text action on the Related menu. |
Quantity | Displays the position quantity. |
Determined Quantity | Indicates the calculated determined quantity from the Quantity Determination page. For more information, see Quantity Determination. |
Unit of Measure Code | Displays the allocated unit of measure for the position. |
Unit Cost (LCY) | Indicates the calculated unit cost based on the costing in the BoQ Budget Calculation. |
Total Cost Budget (LCY) | Indicates the calculated total cost budget based on the quantity and costing in the BoQ Budget Calculation. |
Price Parts Required | Indicates whether the position requires the usage of price parts. |
Unit Price (LCY) | Indicates the calculated unit price based on the pricing in the BoQ Budget Calculation. |
Total Price Budget (LCY) | Indicates the calculated total budget price based on the quantity and pricing in the BoQ Budget Calculation. |
BoQ Price Type | Indicates whether the total price of the BoQ position is calculated in the total amount of the job. If set to Without Total, the values in the Sales Line Amount, Sales Line Amount Budget (LCY), Total Price, and Total Price Budget (LCY) fields are hidden. |
Sales Code | Displays the sales code assigned to the allocated unit of measure for the position. |
Responsible Calculation | Displays the person responsible for calculating the position. |
Execution Unit | Indicates if the position has been assigned to Execution Units. For more information, see Execution Units. |
Job No. | Identifies the job related to the BoQ position. |
Sales Line Amount Budget (LCY) | Displays the budgeted amount including discounts assigned to the sales line from the BoQ Budget Calculation. |
Sales Line Discount % | Displays discount percentage assigned to the sales line from the BoQ Budget Calculation. |
Responsible | Displays the person responsible for the position. |
Sales Quote | Indicates whether a sales quote exists for the BoQ position. |
Sales Order | Indicates whether a sales order exists for the BoQ position. |
Assigned PaC Job No. | Identifies the assigned PaC Job to which the position is transferred. |
Subsection | Displays the subsection code which is assigned to the BoQ position. |
Qty. on Work Package | Indicates the quantity of the work package if the position has been assigned to an Execution Unit. For more information, see Execution Units. |
Qty. on Placing Unit | Indicates the quantity of the placing unit if the position has been assigned to an Execution Unit. For more information, see Execution Units. |
Supplement No. | Identifies the supplement information for the selected position. For more information, see Supplement Administration. This field is not shown by default but can be added using the Personalize feature. |
Supplement to BoQ Pos. No. | This field currently has no functionality. |
Supplement Status | Indicates the current status of the supplement. The options are Identified, Declared, Offered, Revoked, Rejected, Contradiction to Rejection, Objectively Recognized, and Approved. For more information, see Supplement Administration. This field is not shown by default but can be added using the Personalize feature. |
Calculation FastTab
In the Calculation FastTab, new calculations can be made or existing calculations can be viewed or edited for the BoQ Position selected in the top section. For more information, see Calculate BoQs.
Actions
The actions at the top of the BoQ Position List page are described in the following sections.
Edit List and Edit/View Actions
The Edit List action makes the Calculation FastTab editable or non-editable. The Edit and View actions open the BoQ Position Card for the selected BoQ Position in either edit or view mode.
Home Menu
The actions on the Home menu are described in the following table.

Position Card | Opens the BoQ Position Card, where complete information about the selected position is stored. Additionally, all BoQ calculations per position can be managed in the BoQ Position Card (see Calculate BoQs). |
Change Calculation Status | Opens the Calculation Status dialog box, which allows for the change of Calculation Status for the selected position(s). |
Statistic | Opens the Calculation Statistics page, which provides detailed calculation information. For more information, see View Calculation Statistics and Edit Vernier Adjustments. |
Execution Units | Opens the Execution Units page, which is used to define execution units. For more information, see Execution Units. |
Job Documents | Opens the Job Documents page, which displays all documents relating to the selected line. |
Report Menu

FactBoxes
The BoQ Position List page also includes the Long Text and Base Calculation FactBoxes.
If you have the integration with Advanced Construction Suite (ACS), the Document Box FactBox is available. For more information, see Integration of COSMO Document Management System.
Note
The Base Calculation FactBox is hidden by default but can be shown using the Personalize function.
Calculate BoQs
In the BoQ Position List page, it is possible to calculate a BoQ Position either from the Calculation FastTab or from the Components FastTab on the BoQ Position Card (Home menu > Position Card).
The FastTabs include the following menus:
- On the Process menu, use the actions to add lines and levels, delete lines, move lines and levels, and copy over position information from another job.
- On the Line menu:
- Choose the Line Card action to open a Job Position Card that is specific to the component.
- Choose the Budget Calculation action to open the complete BoQ Budget Calculation focused on the selected component.
- Choose the Comments action to select a type of comment and then add/view the comment in the Job Comment Lines page.
- On the Function menu, use the Expand BOM action to explode a BOM that was not exploded upon insertion to the BoQ Budget Calculation.
Note
If you have the integration with Advanced Construction Suite (ACS), the Alloy Surcharge Lines and Alloy Statistic actions are available on the Line menu and the Calculate Alloy Surcharge action is available on the Functions menu. For more information, see Alloy Surcharges in BoQ Budget Calculation.
Once all information is added, choose the Change Calculation Status action on the Home menu to update the status of the BoQ Position for use in the BoQ Budget Calculation.
Copy Calculations
Calculations that have been added to positions can be copied to other positions in the BoQ Position List. This is useful when the same items and/or services are used in multiple positions.
- In the BoQ Position List page, select the position to be copied to another position(s).
- On the Actions menu, choose Functions > Copy Calculation.
- In the request page, choose the position(s) to copy the calculation to and then choose the OK button.
- To see the copied positions, open the BoQ Position Card or BoQ Budget Calculation page. The Calculation Status field was set to In Progress during the copy process.
Note
The Copy Calculation action is also available from the Home menu on the BoQ Position Card. The usage is similar except you start with the BoQ Position Card with the position(s) to copy and then select the positions to copy to. The copied positions are shown in the Components FastTab.
