Pricing
The fields on the Price Details FastTab coordinate with the fields on the Invoicing FastTab.
- If the Price Flag is set to List Price, then the calculated unit cost from the Direct Unit Cost per Unit is automatically entered in the Published Cost field.
- If the Price Flag is set to Net Price, then the calculated unit cost from the Direct Unit Cost per Unit is automatically entered in the Negotiated Cost field.
Typically only a List Price or Net Price is set for a catalog item, as designated in the Price Details FastTab. If you are given a list price, a net price, a special price, or any combination, you can manage these prices in the catalog item prices. On the Related menu, choose the Purchase Prices and Discounts action.
The fields in the Catalog Item Prices page are described in the following table.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Price Flag | Indicates the type of pricing used with the catalog item. The options are List Price, Net Price, and Special Price. |
Minimum Quantity | Indicates the minimum quantity to be ordered to get the specified pricing. |
Starting Date | Indicates the starting date that this pricing is available. |
Price Unit | Indicates the price per unit. For example, the direct unit cost is 1500 for every 100 meters. |
Direct Unit Cost | Indicates the direct unit cost of the catalog item. |
Direct Unit Cost per Unit | Indicates the calculated value of Direct Unit Cost / Price Unit. For example, the direct unit cost per unit is 15 if the direct unit cost is 1500 for every 100 meters. |
Discount Flag | Indicates the type of discount offered with this pricing. The options are: - Without: no discount is used - Discount Group: a discount is taken from the Discount Group Code specified on the Item Catalog Card and automatically entered in the Discount % field. This option can be used only with Price Flag = List Price and Net Price. - Discount: a discount is manually entered in the Discount % field. |
Discount % | Indicates the discount as a percentage if Discount Flag = Discount Group and Discount. The discount is calculated from the list price and is updated in the Direct Unit Cost field. |
To automatically calculate the Direct Unit Cost based on list price and discount group, the Price Flag field must be set to List Price and the list price must be defined in the Direct Unit Cost field on the Price Details FastTab of the Catalog Item Card. Therefore, when the List Price option is added to the Catalog Item Prices page, the discount is automatically deducted from the list price and calculated in the Direct Unit Cost field.
Example
A vendor gives you a price list with standard pricing for a catalog item (list price) and a 20% discounted price if you purchase 5 units (net price), which you already have defined in your discount groups. Starting on August 1st, your price is 500 less than list price to give you an incentive to purchase more when they typically have a decrease in sales (special price).
Price Flag | Minimum Quantity | Starting Date | Price Unit | Direct Unit Cost | Direct Unit Cost per Unit | Discount Flag | Discount % |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
List Price | 1 | 100 | 1500 | 15 | Without | 0 | |
Net Price | 5 | 100 | 1200 | 15 | Discount Group | 20 | |
Special Price | 1 | 01.08.2021 | 100 | 1000 | 10 | Without | 0 |
