Manufacturing Resource Scheduling
COSMO Planning Extension enables the scheduling of manufacturing resources in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Due to the immanent dynamics of personnel capacity need and the availability of qualified employees, the scheduling process should be highly automated. Considering the usual aspects of manufacturing resource scheduling, this scheduling (hereinafter referred to as resource scheduling) is difficult to manage manually. Some aspects are:
- Fluctuations in the order situation require maximum flexibility in shift operation.
- Presence and absence of employees must be scheduled precisely to be able to react to possible work peaks with external employees if necessary.
- Idle times and overtime should be avoided.
Resource scheduling therefore provides an automatic assignment of resources to the operations to be carried out. The resource need is derived from the capacity need of the production order and can be cleared automatically for all periods as well as for short periods, that is, in the scheduling period.

This topic does not take full advantage of the possibilities of the COSMO CONSULT Advanced Manufacturing Pack (COSMO Advance Manufacturing Pack). The present resource scheduling in COSMO Planning Extension is an introduction to this topic, as it does not support the following features:
- Integration into COSMO Discrete Manufacturing and COSMO Project Manufacturing
- Consideration of direct resource and personnel costs
- Interface to Personnel Time Recording
- Graphical visualization
The following table describes a sequence of tasks, with links to the topics that describe them.
