Other communication options are currently only feasible on a customer-specific basis, such as web services or standard file uploads and downloads in an on-premises environment, among others.

SaaS (D365 BC)

COSMO EDI is available for SaaS environments.
Because of the "Microsoft Universal Code Initiative" the communication options provided must always work in the SaaS world as well
Normal file up- and download transformed into a communication with SFTP functions.
- For running SFTP functions: Azure hosting in the COSMO Cloud provided by CIS team.

The factory data capture before BC17 supports not the Dynamics BC/NAV web client. Win client is required to run this version.
The on-premise module is an integrated module of the MegaApp and will be not offered as extracted module. The MegaApp discontinues with BC17.
The factory data capture is highly integrated with the cc|mobile solutions until version BC17.
The .Net application available in cc|mobile solutions for integration with cc|factory data capture was also discontinued with BC18 and higher.

On Premises BC18 (and higher)

The factory data capture for BC18 or higher is available as extension and can be downloaded in the Solution Portal.
Beginning with version BC20 the factory data capture is also available in the appsource.

Switching from the old products (NAV) to Apps (BC)

Dependencies: The current version of COSMO Logistics has dependencies on COSMO Mobile Solution and COSMO Text Module.
Automatic Installation: When installing the latest Logistics version, COSMO Mobile Solution and COSMO Text Module are automatically installed, regardless of the client's license for those apps. However, Logistics can be used independently.
Activation Triggers:
- COSMO Logistics app has an activation trigger in the new version,which will be set to active automatically when converting from the old product.
- COSMO Text Module features within COSMO Logistics will have an activation trigger, so without a valid license, a client will not see the text module features within COSMO Logistics.
- COSMO Mobile Solution does not have an activation trigger, but the setup and configuration are done in a completely different area not interfering with other BC functional areas. When COSMO Logistics is being installed, several Mobile Logistics web services pages are being installed, which can be used within Mobile Solution, but only after proper configuration.
Exclusions: New version of COSMO Logistics does not inlcude:
- rapid start configuration package
- specific Logistics roles and permission sets
- specific Logistics menus

Features no longer offered

Delivery Tolerances:
- Transferred to the new version but not functioning properly.
- Decision made to discontinue this feature due to overlapping functionality in COSMO AMP, awaiting a new product for delivery and quality tolerances.
Warehouse Bundles:
- Fields related to warehouse bundles marked as obsolete.
- To be replaced with packing unit management functionality.
- No migration plan for existing warehouse bundles into packing units.

Special attention reagrding upgrading (Plan for time)

Prepared Upgrade Toolkit:
- Developed for the Utz project; may require fine-tuning for other projects.
Within Logistics, there are additional quantity-related fields in the warehouse entry table.
- After installing the new versions app, it is required to recalculate these fields for all existing entries, but this can take a long time to complete. In case the existing entries are being converted 1 on 1, this update is not really needed (all it would do is calculating the same value that has been converted) and it is suggested to run it only for newly created items/entries between conversion and Logistics app installation.
Recently the feature Logistics bin areas was phased out.
- If a client is using this in the old version they can use the standard location zones instead, but they need to be on BC23 to be able to use zones in a basic warehousing configuration.
- This might be an issue for on-prem clients not going for the newest BC version.

COSMO Mobile Solution

Formerly known as cc|mobile.

Integration

Currently integrated with COSMO Logistics.
Functional in both on-premises and cloud installations for all supported Microsoft Business Central (BC) versions.
Integration with COSMO FDC is currently in progress, expanding the solution's coverage.

Product Redesign

COSMO Mobile Solution has undergone a complete redesign.
Upgrades from older cc|mobile versions are not feasible due to the redesign.
Almost all previously covered Business Central functionalities are now encompassed in the new solution.

BC and NAV extension aligned with rigorous standards, introducing features like single or dual approval, Single Factor Authentication (SFA), and detailed tracking of approval processes.
Regulatory Affairs (RA) module enhances the standard workflow of Business Central (BC), integrating a variety of templates to facilitate part 11 compli-ance across crucial areas such as production, quality assurance, inventory, and master data management.
It also enables the implementation of SFA within each standard BC workflow, accompanied by comprehensive logs for approvals and authentication to meet compliance demands.
Previous RA module faced substantial configurational constraints (e.g. it lacked the functionality to establish rules for specific items or groups)

Setup

Direct transition from the old system's simplistic on/off parameter setting to the new system's intricate, event-driven, condition-based, and multi-step response mechanism is not feasible.
A migration tool for transitioning from the NAV version to BC is not available.
According to the product management's perspective, there is no need for such a tool since there are no documents that require migration.
Configuring the BC engine requires a bit of effort.
You will discover numerous workflow templates designed to facilitate previous approval processes and many other processes are enhanced.
