Project and Project Structure
COSMO Project Construction provides a special hierarchy of projects. At the very top – the main project – is called a Construction Project. From there, Projects are created which are sub-projects of the project. The Project Type defines the Structure Type of the project:
- Bill of Quantities (BoQ) – includes the calculation and the sales positions. It is also used for invoicing.
- Process and Controlling (PaC) – includes all planning components. All costs (Purchasing, Project Times, etc.) need to be posted to this Project.
- Placing Unit (PU) – similar to PaC except used for handling subcontracting cost and purchase-related processing as well as calculations without sales revenue posting.
The relation between BoQ and PaC projects can be m:n but most times it is n:1 or even 1:1. The projects must be allocated from PaC to BoQ, but the project lines could be allocated from PaC to BoQ. While using standard process functionalities, these allocations are done automatically in the background.
The relation between BoQ and PU can be n:1. The projects must be allocated from PU to BoQ. While using standard process functionalities, these allocations are done automatically in the background.
The following table describes a sequence of tasks, with links to the topics that describe them.
