Export and Import Configurations
The Export Configuration and Import Configuration functions on the DMS Setup page allows quick and easy export and import of document library configuration, including content types and table setups with a JSON file (see Configuration JSON Files).
To export a configuration
- Choose the Export Configuration action on the Document Library Configuration menu to open the DMS Configuration Structures page.
- Select the document library line(s) for export.
- Choose the
- Export Configuration Plan action to create a JSON file with the websites, document libraries and fields for SharePoint.
- Export Configuration action to create a JSON file with the document library configuration, including the content types and table setups.
- The export file is saved in the Downloads directory.
To import a configuration
- Choose the Import Configuration action on the Document Library Configuration menu to import all configurations of a JSON file into Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- In the Import Configuration dialog box, select Choose to find and select the configuration file.
- Then choose Open.
Note
Before importing, the credentials must be created correctly. During the import, the SharePoint ID field of the Document Library is ignored, a connection to the library is immediately established and both the current ID and all fields are loaded. This means that configurations can also be transferred from a productive client to a test client that should have a different Web Url. The Web Url should be changed throughout the configuration file before the import.
Caution
During the import, existing setups (with the same code) are overwritten. Content Type, Translation and Table Setup are added, while duplicates of the Table Setup (and thus everything below Table Setup such as Metadata, SharePoint Filters, Record Filters and Lookup Filters) are deleted and completely recreated.
Important
An import can also be performed without a connection to the library in SharePoint. For this purpose, an extended configuration JSON file, which also contains the document library fields, must be imported.
To build a SharePoint structure
- Choose the Build Construction Plan action on the Document Library Configuration menu to build or update all websites, document libraries and fields of a JSON file in SharePoint.
- In the Build SharePoint Construction Plan dialog, select the Choose button to choose your file.
- Find and select the configuration file and then choose the Open button.
Note
During the building process in SharePoint, existing document libraries are updated. Missing fields are added.
