Summary: This chapter provides instructions on how to create a mapping card, create a mapping version card, change the status of a mapping version, and process mappings. When creating a mapping version card, copying the setup of one version to another is possible with the "Copy From" action. The status of a mapping version can be changed to either "Open" or "Released" with the "Release" or "Reopen" action. To process mappings, the "Process" action can be used on the Mapping Card or Mapping Version Card.
If you want to modify and transfer records in different repositories, you must set up each mapping with a mapping card and define mapping versions.
To create a mapping card
- Choose the
icon, enter Mappings - Data Integration Framework, and then choose the related link.
- Choose the New action.
- On the Mapping Card page, fill in the fields as necessary. Hover over a field to read a short description.
A Mapping can contain an unlimited number of Versions. A Mapping Version contains Repositories and Line Actions. A line performs a specific action for a Repository.
To create a mapping version card
- From any Mapping Card page, choose the Open Card action on the Versions FastTab action.
- On the Mapping Version Card page, fill in the fields as necessary. Hover over a field to read a short description.
To copy the complete setup of one version to another version, choose the Copy From action on the Actions menu of the Mapping Version Card to which the setup needs to be copied. Any existing setup in the destination version will be replaced with the source version.
For the execution of a Partner Mapping, at least one released and valid version needs to exist. The Version with the highest version number will be used if multiple versions are released.
To change the status of a mapping version
The Status field indicates the current status of the Mapping Version. The options are:
- Open – The Mapping version can be edited but not used for automatic processing.
- Released – The Mapping version cannot be edited but can be used for processing.
Choose the Release or Reopen action to change the status. Choose the Release action to make some plausibility checks, similar to a certification. Versions can be processed without being Released, through manual interaction on the page.
Nota
For the remainder of this document, the terms Mapping and Mapping Version are used interchangeably.
To process mappings
Choose the Process action on the Mapping Card or Mapping Version Card to perform a Mapping. On the Mapping Card the current valid released Mapping Version will be processed. Executing the Mapping the first time for a Business Central session, you will be asked to load an XML or JSON file before the Mapping and save an XML or JSON file after the Mapping. If you execute the mapping for a Business Central session a second time, the previous settings are used and you are not prompted again. To reset the settings, either restart Business Central (create a new Business Central session) or choose Actions > Clear Process Cache on the Mapping Version Card.
