Logistics Pre Picking
This function is used to decouple pick and pack operations, e.g. processing by different employees. If a picking is created with the option Pre Pick across Packing Place, two warehouse activities are created in the picking. The first warehouse activity represents the process of taking the goods out of the warehouse and bringing them to the Packing Place. The second warehouse activity represents the process of packing the goods in the Packing Place and the assembly of the packed goods in the Target bin. For example, you can mark several goods issues in the pool – whs. shipment and create a picking with pre-picking for this purpose. In this case the page Warehouse activities open first. This page contains all lines for pre-picking the selected warehouse shipment. This page can also be called up from the pool – whs. shipment via the function Pre-picking.
In the pool – whs. shipment can be seen via the Pre pick active for whs. shipment as soon as the complete goods are ready for packing. As soon as the warehouse activities have been registered for pre-picking, the checkbox in the Pre pick active column is no longer active in the Pool – Whs. shipment. This means that there is no open pre-picking for picking, so that the next step is to continue with picking.
The second warehouse activity (packing the items in the picking) cannot take place before the first (pre-picking) has been carried out. For this reason, it receives the status Waiting until the previous warehouse activity has been registered. In Waiting status, it is not possible to register this warehouse activity. As soon as the picking activity is registered, the status of the follow-up activity in picking automatically changes from Waiting to Open. Furthermore, the goods (depending on the setup in the Logistics Setup) are already transferred to the picking bin.
Prerequisites
Two setup fields are found on the Location Card by the Shipment process part for the Pre picking process.

There is a setup field on the logistics setup page with Warehouse Journal Template (Pre Picking) name. It is necessary for registering/canceling pre pick line in the system.
